Cracking track mate from a rare as fuck single. I heard they were from Salford but it doesn't matter. My mate owned the single and I'd not heard it for about 30 years. After searching it on YouTube several times it turned up. I could of kissed whoever uploaded it, felt so happy hearing it again. And also the excellent flip side Attack.... Enjoy mate: )
Yes indeed mate. There was a great underground market on Market Street, and in there was a stall called Discount Records. They used to display 7" single covers, coloured vinyl and picture discs on the walls.Great release that. Never heard it before but very 1979 sounding :)
Was gonna ask you if it was a double-a side.like the no frills sleeve too.Yes indeed mate. There was a great underground market on Market Street, and in there was a stall called Discount Records. My mate took a punt on the double A side single by Armed Force.
Also bought a 12" EP by the band V2 for a bargain 50p! I put it on here if you scroll back to near the beginning of the thread.
Haha: ).. can't remember the name of that stall mate but the woman looked like Marianne faithfull. Another great stall. Hers was a corner stall adjacent to discount records. Was gonna ask you if it was a double-a side.like the no frills sleeve too.
I remember a record shop in the underground market late 80s .used to love nipping there before home matches.don't think its the one you mention ..run by a woman-bit of a collector's place with rare stuff up behind the stall.would often take my place in the Kippax with a record bag in tow. ...not a good idea really....
Yes sounds like her...she was selling snide collectors stuff at one point; i pointed this out to her ,in a helpful manner..i was adverising in record collector myself in rhose days and knew me onions...to this day i still dont know if she was grateful for my advice, or was secretly thinking" keep your voice down and eff off you out of town prick"Haha: ).. can't remember the name of that stall mate but the woman looked like Marianne faithfull. I recall the women, tall and slim, blonde.. A few years after the underground closed I took the kids to Blackpool for the day and ended up in an arcade type building with different stall holders inside. And there she was! Seemed happy to be remembered from the Underground market. This would have been mid to late 90'sYes sounds like her...she was selling snide collectors stuff at one point; i pointed this out to her ,in a helpful manner..i was adverising in record collector myself in rhose days and knew me onions...to this day i still dont know if she was grateful for my advice, or was secretly thinking" keep your voice down and eff off you out of town prick"
Happy days
V2 were a great Manchester band
Their Speed Freak EP is a cracking piece from 78 , think a couple of the lads from the band were from Audenshaw ? ?
Man in a box also another top tune ,
Great memories of the punk stall in the underground market ......
Sad news, another gone to the great punk gig in the sky. RIP. (Rock In Punk)Yes at least one was from Audenshaw , Mark Stanley , who was involved in a Smiths documentary a few years ago. I saw it well before it came out as my mum knew his mum.
I think one of V2 is no longer with us.
Speaking of that , one of the Drones passed the other day.
