Punk and New Wave thread.

Howard Trafford Aka Devoto is and always will be a fkin genius, living in Thailand now the fella

Dave Formula and Barry Adamson Whalley Range n Moss Side lads fkin brill
John M genius of the guitar and Doyly on drums - wow
Best band that never made big success imo

Had an album from about 1979 by a Japanese punk band called The Plastics. Absolute crap but it was brilliant. They sang a version of Last Train to Clarksville ( an old Monkees hit) and a song
called Cards.. all about in the future we would all be having sex with our credit cards ! Check em out on You Tube.

Saw Generation X in a small club in Yate, near Bristol about 1978/79 . They spent more time asking the crowd to stop spitting then they did singing.
We ended the night scrapping with some Bristol City fans when one of our lot refused to take his City scarf off. He wore it everywhere he went.

Just had a look through the Telegraph top 50 punk albums. It's a farce, I can think of at least 20 albums that should be amongst that lot. Some of the albums listed aren't even best albums of bands. One album only allowed per band. Ok, Dead Kennedy's third album 'Frankenchrict ' over one of the best punk albums ever in 'Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables'? WTF, really ?

And no/1 album listed was American Idiot-Greenday(2004) A 4th gen punk by American band Greenday, really? I think whoever compiled this list is a fuckin' idiot!

Generation X is the one band I never got to see.... Got into them Jan 79 after seeing King Rocker on TOTP and Tiswas.... I was 16 but looked 13.... They played the Poly the next month but I'd never have got in the over 18 rule...
Had a ticket to see Gen X but they split up 2 weks before the gig....
Seen Billy Idol 5 times and he does Dancing with myself and Ready Steady Go (and King Rocker a couple of times) but would still love to see an Idol / James / Derwood / Laff reunion
