villa is not for sale.

Naive.

Every club in the world is for sale, it's just a question of how much. Same with every player in the world too. Think if we offered United £100m for Rooney they'd say no? What about £500m? A billion? 5 billion? Eventually, the answer becomes yes. Same with clubs.

It wouldn't even take that much with Villa, Lerner is trying to tighten the purse strings so January will be very interesting to see whether Houllier has managed to win that battle and secure some much needed signings. I definately do not think Lerner would hesitate to turn down a bid that will leave him with a tidy profit on his tenureship at Villa, but I don't think he's actively looking to sell.

You can see though that bringing the youngsters through is fundamental to Lerner's long term plan for the club, I think the days of them knocking on the door of the Champions League will flicker out in a couple of years for a long time, because even if their youngsters lead them up the table, they'll only get sold on.
