My daughter who has just recorded this fucking about at her mates, what's the verdict? Is it worth me paying for lessons?

you have a daughter? how did that happen?

She is not bad but neither are lots of people who apply for the x factor, plus as someone else posted, entertainment seems to be a shit industry to work in.

seriously glen she s good but needs work to develop A style B breathing- for longer held notes. it s experience that s needed.

if you were to introduce her to "class music" and hope it rubs off well then cool. diversity of musical choice is the key.... wider selection the wider she can grasp(kids are like sponges of info`!).

i suggest fiona apple, natalie merchant, bjork,pj harvey, kate bush, regina specktor to name a few for inspiration. get her into soul music proper stuff to help her hear raw talent and compare with herself as to develop.

Nice one mate! I shall mention those to her, cheers.

Honestly, I know i'm going to sound a right prick here but its not fantastic, but its not bad either. With lessons you never know plus a bit of autotune like the rest of the "singers" these days and she could sound very good.

Bizarre, posted something in one thread an it ended up in this one deleted now apologies if any one seen it. Oh well having listened to that recording she doesn't sound too bad, no harm in seeing if she enjoys some lessons and their feedback would be much better than ours :) You may have a superstar in you family !

that s just tonight glen !!!

tomorrow shes up at 6 and introduce her to:

dusty springfield, nina simone, janice joplin ,dido, tori amos, nora jones, erika badu (married! name change?),tina turner, eva cassidy, annie lennox, francoise hardy, cindi lauper, alanis morrisette, dianna ross ,alison krauss, sade, gladis knight and madonna!

we ll give her some "time off" for xmas! ;)

No you don't sound like a prick matey. It is a kid fucking about with her mate on a computer, never ever had any sort of lessons or tuition. It is honest opinions that was asked for ta.

Glen, get her writing her own stuff. Your daughter knows her vocal limits more than anyone else, and the only way she can extend those limits is by writing songs that, for her, comfortably push back the boundaries of what her voice can do. That's what I try to do all the time.

She's got a good voice and so much potential. When her vocal chords mature and grow fully she's going to have a cracking chance at being famous. Just don't let her get too famous too soon; it'll go to her head. Lessons do help, though, but if she takes Music as an option at GCSE Level in a year or two her school should offer lessons for free.
