clearly a swipe at footballers who do nothing of note, being paid huge salaries. Increase income tax, reduce the financial inequality in society and increase social mobility as a result.

My database of footballers who nothing of note, currently running at 7%-8% compares very favourably with MPs who do nothing of note. The latter is currently hovering between 99.9% and 100%.

Question Time is intelligent political discussion for people who have telly watching as a major hobby.

In other words it is downmarket rubbish.

Best paid left back in world football. Hughes got it disastrously wrong, tbf
I don't think he is. I'd say Cole and Coentrao are on more and I reckon possibly Lahm too.

Wouldn't say Hughes got it wrong at the time either. Possibly paid him too much but he was the right signing when he came.

TBF, Hughes / City had to pay those extravagant wages to get the likes of Barry, Bridge, Adebayour and dare I say it, RSC, to join us when we were a poor mid-table side.

I saw it too - I don't think he was making any criticism of City. His remark was on the lines of ' If Wayne Bridge the Manchester City 4th choice left back can earn £4M a year I have no problem with a person who runs a big company well ..............doing the same'
I think his point was a valid one and that most people would agree and was a little 'tongue in cheek' in any case even though he had a wide choice of others he could have used to make his point.

You see, this is where I have an issue, it isn't a well run company, well it is if you consider sending around 20 staff from one building on a regular basis to various parts of the country to do charity work which raises £2,000 if you're lucky but at an expense of well over £20,000 in lost hours, putting the staff up in hotels and giving them travel and subsitance allowance all to 'raise the profile' of the RBS.

Believe me, this is the tip of the iceberg, it's an horrendously run company.

Yes - but you have read something into my quote that isn't there - he wasn't referring to the RBS - his point was a general one and referred to any well run and highly successful company

A slight mis-understanding here and maybe I've not helped by adding to the confusion a little myself there mate, wasn't really directed or implied you'd said anything wrong more just that with your above comment in mind and an earlier reference by someone with regards to the RBS, in that particular case (RBS) it couldn't or rather shouldn't be used as an example of a 'well run company'.

Apologies for the confusion.

Harry - yes the subject of that particular question was indeed the RBS bonuses so I fully understand - I still love you !
P.S. How dirty are you by the way ?

Well, it's odd that you actually ask that question tonight of all nights, my Mrs has just gone out on a night out in a mood because she thinks I'm a right filthy slut, I, on the otherhand prefer to think of myself as an easy going 'live and let live' kind of guy, but I think she has a point :-0.

I've never ever used it before (and thought I never would) but here goes - LOL !
