Questions for the Chairman

Why continue to overcharge working class fans for their season tickets. They don’t batter eyelid shelling out 40 mil for ake and by charging fans £100 instead of £300 would be a difference of 2 mil which is nothing to them but huge for your average fan. Even better charge £5 pay on the gate which game for game will easily cover the £100 suggested. And they wonder why we can’t sell out. We could fill eastlands twice over, this is the people game isn’t it? So make it accessible to everyone.

1. In Germany tickets are generally priced much cheaper than here in England. This allows more working class fans to attend and generally leads to a much better atmosphere in the stadium. There is a feeling that German fans are treated more like members of the club and English fans are treated more like customers. Would we as a club ever look to the German model in order to improve the atmosphere at our games and make games more affordable for working class fans?

2. Would the club be willing to build a single tier north stand in a similar style to the yellow wall at Dortmund?
I agree with your first point

Yea a gimmicky single tiered stand like Tottenham where your still told to sit down. The reason the atmosphere is top in Germany and Europe is that they have ultras and we don’t. Most countries have an all seated policy but don’t have atmosphere problems. Funny that init.

Are there any plans to improve the infrastructure around the stadium, to make access and egress better on match days. This is the main reason why people leave in droves before the end of matches. From a personal point of view the Metrolink service from Altrincham and back is appalling, lack of double unit trams and severe overcrowding.

Agree mate. So frustrating that the idiots who run metrolink stopped the direct service to the Etihad and refuse to put on doubles on a match day. Not sure what Khaldoon can do about that, but if you dont ask you don't get!

This is the only really interesting question that might get an answer.

I think the first step is getting more people in but I sort of agree with the yellow wall point. It’s important to create a better atmosphere because if you make games exciting to go to cos of the atmosphere more people are likely to go if that makes sense?
So many people want to go and witness the atmosphere at places like Dortmund or Anfield say and I feel that building that kinda level will help bring in more fans in future too

Anfields atmosphere is a joke 99% of the time and Tottenham’s new ground is a library, think that debunks any notion of a single tiered stand and it’d just make the ground look weird if we actually did it. I agree with that a decent atmosphere is a good selling point and if we had that and with our football we’d be the hottest club in world football, psg are a good example of that coming together you see every cnut wearing psg gear now. End of the day though the fans alone make the atmosphere.

If you agree with my first point and what you say first is linked to that point then what was the point in that weird little rant about my second point to start things off?

I have for you a once in a lifetime (well, season) opportunity.

City Matters have been invited to put questions forward that fans would like answered in the Chairman's ever-popular end of season review. I may well regret asking this but we're potentially looking at up to a dozen questions so anything you might want to ask will be considered and the best ones put forward.

Ask away...
Just ask him why, tell him not to tell us what he thinks we want to hear but ask him why they decided to sell out fans And join the Super League.

Yeah for sure I’m not sure a single tier is the way to go but I do think getting more fans in through cheaper tickets and easier transport is a good start. If almost every game was like that Liverpool 2-1 a year or two ago then it would be class
