Questions have to be asked?

Why is it even at the time of the greatest excitement in years, when we have some genuine world class players at City and when we are about to embark on the first season in years when we could genuinely beat anyone on our day (and theirs) that some people still need to find something to whine and whinge and moan about?

I can imagine if you were lying in bed with two miss worlds, drinking Dom Perignon 71, watching City being 4-0 against United with your 100m winning lottery ticket in your hand that you would be moaning to the two miss worlds about how the pillow was a bit firm for your liking, the Dom Perignon was not your prefered 72 and the curtains didn't match the bed spread!

Hughes knows exactly who he will play on the back on Saturday, Hughes knows whether Lescott is coming or not etc etc etc

But have the two Miss Worlds played together before?

And why don't their curtains and bed spreads match?? pffft!

I meant because I don't see Bellamy being one of our first choice options once everyone is fit, and the Celtic game should have been used to give Ade the maximum opportunity to get to know his team mates, and his team mates to get to know him.

Even if you do think Bellamy will be used more than I think he should be then he has still been there longer, and knows how his team mates style of play better than Ade does. Either way, it was a bizarre decision, either borne out of misplaced sentiment (Celtic being one of Bellamy's many previous clubs) or misplaced team selection (and Bellamy is going to be the regular starter up front).

I am really excited about tomorrow (cannot fucking wait actually) but I cannot pretend I am happy with the manager or his team selection, or think he has done particularly well in the transfer market this summer.

People will say I am being 'ungrateful' because we have brought in some fantastic players, but I just feel our transfer strategy this summer has been poor - we have not sufficiently addressed the area which we most needed to address (defence) while packing the midfield, and leaving ourselves with a great hand of strikers on paper, but who in reality are potentially disastrous when you consider two are likely to be injured most of the time, and one of the other two either might not work out for us, or even get injured themselves.

I am a bit bewildered by it all to be honest. The sooner 3 o'clock tomorrow rolls around the better.

I concede that Ade needs more team time, but on your other point re. defense our first signing of this window was a defensive midfielder and our second a reserve goalie! Admittedly the RSC deal was swift but we'd been working on that one a while. As soon as the internationals finished bids went in for Terry and Lescott, again defensive. Now these have dragged on (hardly Hughes' fault) and the moment one failed we moved very swiftly for our second choice (Toure). Like I say the Lescott bid isn't finished yet. How can you say we didn't try to strengthen our defense first? It so happens that the attacking options went through quicker but you can't for one minute claim no effort has been made in defense.

I'm not at all worried as yet for the season. I will be if we've done poorly after 10 games but not till then and hopefully that will not be the case.

I'm not really concerned about what happened first - the order is irrelevent, just that it should have happened - and hasn't.

I'm also not concerned that no effort has been made to strengthen the defence - I am not for one second suggesting Hughes isn't working hard and never have. Just sometimes it takes more than just effort to succeed.

I do not take RSC as in any way a feather in anyone's cap as it took no ability to sign him for the ridiculous price we paid. I'm sure if I won the Euromillions tonight Blackburn would have sold him to me for that money and I could have had him mow my lawn or something (when fit).

We went for exciting targets this window (and last) and, for whatever reason, came up short - you will say not Hughes' fault, I will say he has to take some (most) of the blame. Whether it was poor judgement in waiting too long for some players, not long enough for others or questionable judgement in selecting targets that were unattainable, unavailable or overpriced and injury prone then I do not feel we have done good business this summer.

We have signed good players and improved the squad but we have spent an awful lot to do so. There was not one signing (we have actually made) that couldn't be described as playing it safe.

Do I think Hughes has done a better job than most managers would have done with the same funds at their disposal? No.
Do I think other managers could have done a better job than Hughes this Summer at Man City? Unfuckingdoubtedly.

And therein is my problem. Now I can't wait to be proved wrong tomorrow and over the coming weeks :-)

So, pray tell, who are these managers who could have brought in better players than Hughes and who do you think these players would have been? Ribery, Messi, Benzema, Kaka, Aguero, Terry, Puyol, Yaya Toure, etc etc? Dream on! I bet you can't name one player who would have definately come here under another manager to a club with money, yes, but one without recent European pedigree and even recent domestic league sucess (i.e. even a top 6 finish).

I understand you are entitled to your opinion and you must have your reasons for it, but I'm damned if I can see what they are. Please enlighten me.

Dare I say if the special one had been our manager , MR TERRY most certainly would have come !

And maybe one or two others !
