Queues

So after years of meetings, discussions, plans, moving metal barriers about, new layouts, new wands, additional security staff, etc, etc, getting into the stadium and the queues are as bad as ever. I won't even mention the ticket office.

Who's in-charge of this on-going mess?

And the horrible thought is the larger the capacity the worse the problem becomes

People need to get there earlier for weekend games (night games are unavoidable when people work and can only get there when they get there) and STOP TAKING BAGS TO FOOTBALL MATCHES!

Why the fuck do people need bags? Full on rucksacks packed to the maximum with some people. Fucking leave them at home, in your car, or in your hotel if you’re a fucking tourist!

It’s the simpletons who turn up with a bag with 300 things in, each needing to be looked at by security that slows things down the most.

In fact City should ban all bags over a certain size and only allow in sensible sized handbags or those “man” bags young lads like to carry.

If you can’t take an umbrella over a certain size in, they should enforce the same with bags.

Fucking bag idiots!
Absolutely bang on.

I don't like having to bring a bag to the match and my guess is nobody else does either so I don't know why we can't give people the benefit of the doubt and assume there's usually a good reason. The price we pay for tickets I don't think it's a big ask of the club to get better processes in place for getting people checked and in the ground more quickly. I had to move from Manchester and I travel 200 miles to games. That means i'm often carrying a bag with clothes in it for the weekend and usually i'm either coming straight to the ground from arriving in Manchester or having to leave for the station straight from the game.

My dad has to bring a bag to games because he has a colostomy bag and has to carry stuff around in case he needs to change it and/or clean himself up.

People have all kinds of completely valid reasons as to why they might have to bring a bag with them.

If you stay in Scotland and come to every game staying over when ko times don’t allow for same day return a bag is essential

I’d be interested to know exactly what has been picked up by these searches. Has any illegal item been found? If no then there’s little, if any, deterrent from having a go. Airport security found chewing gum I’d absent mindedly forgotten to take out of my back pocket. City’s never picked it up.

Security is commensurate to the threat, unfortunately a world wide TV audience watching a bomb go off at the home of the Premier League Champions in England is exactly what the enemy want.... suck it up snowflakes, have one less pint at the Pub and get there a little earlier avoiding the inevitable queues. Pity this kind of security didn't happen at the MEN !

Security at the Arena prevented nothing. He was ticketless and ran in to the outer atrium as people left the concert.

One less pint wasn’t an option v Basel last season. Home from work, changed, fed, watered and still struggled to make kick off.

Security at the outer atrium checking people could have avoided it.....Commensurate to the threat

Is that in place now? They’ll blow themselves up wherever there’s a crowd. Put security in the outer atrium and he stands ten metres away.

As opposed to a bomb going off outside the stadium with 1000’s of people queuing up.

Regarding the Arena bomb attack. Whichever way you look at it, it was and will always be a tragedy. But if there would have been similar queues outside the arena that there are outside the Etihad, the death toll would have been much higher.

The bomber had a suitcase which contained the bomb. And as the arena is linked to Victoria train station, nobody would have suspected there was a bomb inside the suitcase. Nobody is going to try and get a suitcase into the Etihad. The bomber also struck at night, when people were still in the arena, and we’re comimg out of the arena early to get home.

If a bomber is intent on blowing himself or herself up outside the stadium, no amount of security will stop them. Yes, they might get stopped at the entrance, but they will detonate the bomb there. There is also a threat of a second bomber waiting for people to escape from the stadium after the 1st bomb.

I think all rucksacks and sports bags should be banned from the Etihad. Handbags, Manbags, and souvenir shops bags should be the only bags allowed into the stadium.
