Queues

It's a nonsense and is all for the cctv cameras so they can show they have done something when they have a debrief. My Dad gets his metal flask felt through his coat every game and never been asked what it is once all season, if you have a bag they check the bag but don't then check the person carrying said bag, complete and utter pain in the arse under the guise of 'doing it because of a terrorist threat' well i'm not being funny but any terrorist planning anything would have to attend 1 match and they would very easily work out how to get anything (within reason) into the ground. All they are doing at the moment is wasting peoples time.

Got there 30 mins before kick off and usually walk straight in. Today had to start queuing at the bottom of the bridge. Barely moved in 25 minutes waiting there, then 5 mins before kick off they just let everyone in without searching. All they did was asked me what was under my hat, told them it was my head, took it off then walked in. Managed to get in just as they kicked off

I'm all for security checks, but if they are searching everyone then realise there are too many people and then let thousands in without checking then what's the point?

It was ridiculous today. I took my lad to the family day at the CFA so we were at the ground 45 minutes before kick off and still had to queue for ages. The club need to re-evaluate the current system urgently, as it's clearly flawed.

I am more than happy to stand in line for as long as it takes in order that it can guarantee my safety.

Granted, the searches are more preventative as a deterrent than anything else but so be it.

If you don't like it then get there earlier.

I have no sympathy. Get a grip.

I breezed in via M2 into 115 about 20 mins before KO but every other queue looked ridiculous ! Needs sorting asap. Imagine today's situation repeated before the next Derby ? There'd be a riot !

Is it just certain turnstiles? Saw the queue on the Asda side walked around to spiral r on the other side and walked straight in after a quick search.

The first line is where your stance falls down, lol.

If you think that shambles guarantees your safety then more fool you.

Seems a bit hit and miss to me. My teenage daughter wasn't checked as steward asked if she was under18, (she is 17) and waved her through without wanding her, although I'm sure he'd have loved to have checked her out!

You are wrong Rammy Blue.

The inconvenience is worth the deterrent as far as I am concerned.

It is these sort of silly self centered "me, me, me " attitudes which object to a little inconvenience, that have no place in modern society.

This is the world we live in, grow up and accept it.

So, what's it's for?

Either there is specific info, that has been going on all season, or it's more to do with stopping people trying to get in with drinks, food, etc.

City need to come out and explain why these randon searches, scans, etc, are taking place every home matches.

Of course they won't. The fans are never informed.

If they insist on doing it, do it right. This is an opportunity for the club to pioneer an effective approach.

So far, it's long queues, crowds outside the ground. It makes it all the more dangerous. God forbid, but if people has evil intent they don't want to lash it on stadium seats and grass on the pitch. It's the crowd. There's every bit of protection needed outside the stadium as it is inside.

City will be privi to a lot of info from Manchester police & FA on security measures after previous terrorist attacks on what they should & shouldn't be doing but it will take time to get it right but if they can see things are not going to plan they need to react speedily!

Anti ran barriers - sad times

On a separate note I received this email from them this week.

Etihad Stadium - Important matchday changes to private hire and hackney carriages

Providing the best facilities for our supporters, as well as ensuring the security and safety of all visitors to the stadium, continues to be at the forefront of our operation. The Club has recently completed the second stage of developing a safe, vehicle-free space around the stadium and has recently installed anti-ram barriers to protect our site and our supporters.

In order to ensure we have a safe, robust and reliable traffic management plan, we have made the decision to prevent access to private hire taxis & hackney carriages on match days. No such vehicle will be permitted within the green fence line of the estate on matchdays unless under extreme circumstances, with prior notification of the passenger/vehicle details and at the discretion of the Club

It was a mess and needs to be reviewed and addressed by professional people knowledgeable in effectively managing the security and safety of large groups of people entering a sports stadium.

That's not what we had today.

I know we can't go down the profiling route but seems mad that people like my old man are now being searched and x raid. First went in 1952!

Could we not go down the finger print recognition system for season cards??!!!

I understand the reason behind the checks, but for me it's a pain in the behind and another nail in the match day experience coffin.

Don't know what the problem is, walked straight into my local and got a pint within seconds, could drink it while watching the game as well, problem is people will start doing this more and more if we're not careful

Nothing beats being there, and you know it
I do, just not been to well so gave it a miss today, do worry about the future of the game sometimes though, people pay a lot of money for the experience, it's not all it could be at times, having said that I've never had a problem getting in the ground but I know a lot have
