The reason for the question is that I am/was having a debate with damocles about guns and cars.

I pointed out that guns are used to kill people in massacres (not cars), damocles countered saying that blowing a car up in a crowd would be an easier way of killing many people. When I pointed out that explosives were illegal (and you can't have a license willy nilly) he stated that a car is a metal box of explosions and as such, can be considered an explosive.

This thread was to show that logic to be way off.

Although he is talking alot of dog poo a car is run by a combustion engine albeit a controlled explosion, i have never heard of it being able to blow up the entire car though.

damocles is correct in that the car uses an internal combustion engine, which is a sequence of explosives.

I know he's a physics buff but in order to blow a car up in a crowd surely there would be a big overhaul needed. U would have to actually turn it into a bomb rather than just put a timer on it that starts the engine.

Its like i said earlier James May said people would think you are crazy if you came up with the idea for a car now, i cant find the clip but he explains it really well at how ridiculous it is that cars are a mode of transportation

My favourite vehicle has always been a challenger tank ever since I saw one on the back of a transporter on the A303.

The driver had just filled the transporter and came in to pay a bill of over £3000.

Imagine the fun you could have at OT with a tank.

I'm not totally convinced that the people doing the killing are that bothered about the legalities of their methods.
