I was born 3 months after the 1969 FA Cup Final. My dad would recall how he had gone to the game and had shed tears at a fourth FA Cup final defeat for Leicester City.
Over the years I have always had a soft spot for Manchester City, as a result of our association through the 1969 Final. Despite your recent new found wealth, your fans have always turned up in good numbers, even when times were hard. I also have fond memories of the Imre Banana era.
It has come as a real shock to hear about Neil Young. Most Leicester fans would have first heard about his illness during the recent FA Cup games. Your fans did you proud in their tribute to Neil and I would like to think the two games were a fitting testament to the competition. The games even left an impact on Leicester fans, as we now celebrate our goals with the "Poznan".
Neil Young once broke Leicester hearts, many blue moons ago and I'm sure I speak for other Leicester fans in saying that the news of his untimely passing is heart-breaking. I truly hope you go on to win the FA Cup this year and turn the final into a sea of red and black...
RIP Neil
