Racist Chanting

Not a racist ,but why is Paki more offensive than Jock,Paddy,Taffy,Pommy, Yank,Manc, Brummy.
Would it have been acceptable to sing A town full of Pakistanis.

Just asking, don't shout

Very true. I've been called a Scotch Egg Wanker before, which is alot worse than being called a Paki, unless youre Indian.

That made me giggle - am I a racist? :O

It's not the first time either.

Birmingham away in 2008 when Rob Styles beat us.

Anti-Irish, anti-black chants were very audible sang by a group of about 10 people.

yeah I heard the town full of Paki stuff. I was on row 25. It was coming from row 26.

They sounded a bit like Burnley to me though.

Every club has it's fair share of tossers! I've personally never heard any racism at a city match, from either set of fans but I'm also not naive enough to think it doesn't happen. Any city fan who is racist in any way needs to give their head a wobble and look at what is in front of them. Without even going into the moral aspects of it there are a number of points that make then fucking idiots. Our amazing owner is Arabian, our FA Cup semi final goalscorer is black, most of our recent terrace heros are black such as SWP, Goater, Yaya etc.

Bottom line is racism is as pathetic ad the 'my dad drives a better car than your dad' argument in the playground.
That said, my dad drives a jag so fuck off!

It's a legacy from a time when 'On The Buses', 'Love Thy Neighbour' and 'Mind Your Language' were seen as good old fun, and good comedy. Basically a word from a bygone era, or to paraphrase David Brent, before racism was a bad thing! In the 80s it was a word used to abuse anyone who was from Pakistan or India (probably a few Indians who would have kicked off if you called them that, and not for the same reason as someone from Pakistan would). Anyone from my generation (in their 40s) would know that the word 'paki' was used in a derogatory sense - absolutely a racist word, and I would suggest that any City fans using it last night meant it in a racist way (regardless of how many Asian friends they have....)

Certain asians use it themselves now, like a badge of honour, like the n word for black people. Taking it back is the term they use, i call it fucking stupidity after the problems they went through to get equal rights

Your right it is stupidity! I have family members that use the "N" word. I hate it cos I understand what it really means & why it was used. To some ignorance is bliss.

The problem is that too many people sit rubbing their spuds watching football factory and will do and say anything at a match in order to look like the big man. I had the displeasure of sitting in front of a right muppet last night. Fine he wasn't being racist but berated every misplaced pass, every poor shot. The thick bastard went mental after De Jong gave the ball away and screamed that he was shut and the biggest waste of money in history. Two minutes later De Jong powers into a challenge and he's stood on his seat shouting about De Jong being player of the season. Fucking idiot!

Some people are racist and its the first thing they reach for because they have nothing else to attack. I do however wonder if racists could handle being around a group of all asians/blacks and hearing such vicious words being spoken. Its quite intimidating but since they are around a group of "their own" and all that its ok to pick on the minority. Nice to see most lads are against it though as a person of color myself it makes me feel proud to be a blue, dont be fooled though there are some of them among us who harbour those ill thoughts. So I ask them take every black player from the history of this club and where would we be?.

Exactly mate, no Yaya Toure means no FA Cup final! Like I said though, most don't even mean what they are saying, they are that fucking pathetic that they think it makes them sound like the big man when in actual fact it makes them sound like the lowest of the low

I was in row 29, seat 36. Not far away from the right hand side and just in front of the idiot banging on the metal at the back. I was inside an hour before kick-off and waited 20 minutes to get out because of the moronic queuing and I can honestly say, I didn't hear anything of the like.

I was in row 31 (2nd to back row) about 10 seats from the guy yr on about. heard no racist chanting whatsoever. Just a load of (well) pissed up Blues backing there team.

I'm getting sick of this bashing of our own fans now! Yeah whoever sang these songs are arseholes, and i'm not defending us - but nobody has yet to mention the fact that about 19/20 mins into the game the Blackburn fans were very clearly heard (on TV) to sing "You Black B@stard" to YaYa... about the only time you heard them sing anything!
Now watching on TV it stood out to me above anything else, yet it seems as usual that the it's not in the medias interest to highlight it as it's not having a pop at us!

At the stadium it sounded more like "you FAT bastard".

Didn't hear the "Paki" song last night but I would definitely have said something if they'd been in earshot, no excuse whatever for racist shit.

i heard it as "you fat bastard" too

SORRY I JUST CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS BLOG.. ? Win nothing with Yids complaining people are calling them Yids HELP !

ps
just pointing the above out... before the finger gets pointed at me..

The lad the runs that blog is a top bloke by the way. Just a fan of his team as we are with ours. It's also a pun on Hansons quote about the rags. I've never known a spurs fan have a problem with the term yids to be fair, though their not fans of "gas hissing noises"

Like I said, its gonna happen everywhere. We just need to ignore and not join in. Nothing else we can do about it. If the press make a deal out of our chants then they should go listen to the "96 not enough" shite that gets spewed out at Liverpool games. Its part and parcel I'm afraid
i remember rags selling t shirts outside the swamp saying that on it... an how they kick up a riot when anyone mentions munich....morons at every club.

Never heard it, think the original poster is being abit dramatic

not good by any means but not the widescale disaster you're making it out to be
