Radamel Falcao Zarate

As much as I love Falcao, because thanks to him and the actual Atletico coach my team in Argentina (River Plate) won the National league in 2008, I am not so blind to think Falcao is better than Aguero.

Just 3 FACTS:

1.
Thanks to Aguero Atletico beat Barça 4-3 in a match in which Kun was by far MOTM.
With Falcao (and other good players that are now in Atletico) Atlético could never beat Barça.

(You can see part of that famous match here: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAWGcO2_Trs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAWGcO2_Trs</a>

2.
Thanks to Aguero alone (because Forlan was not playing well last year -"He just walked the pitch" as Atlético fans said), Atlético classified to Champions League.
This year, with Falcao and other good players (Adrian, Arda Turan, Diego) Atlético is not classifying to the CL. (just 8th position in La Liga)

3.
When Aguero decided to leave Atletico, both Barca and R Madrid wanted to sign him.
Neither Barça or RM ever wanted to sign Falcao.

Falcao is an excellent finisher, arguably better than Aguero, but just this.

He doesn't dribble, he doesn't make good passes, he cannot play any deeper than near the box. He is very similar to Dzeko playing at Wolfsburg. Either he gets good assists or he doesn't score.
He is scoring now because the actual Atletico's manager (Simeone) likes to play with a finisher in front of the box. Nothing to do with Mancini style of play.

If Mancini is staying at city, Falcao would play 3 games and spend the rest of the season in the bench.

They paid him 40 millions euro.

Would you really like City to offer enough money for them to profit on that transfer ?

He's not teenager you know ;)

Sorry, but buying any of RVP or Falcao would be classless from City imo..

So many good young players put there and buying last contract one or two seasons top players would make us look as tits. We should be better than that and buy class players on the way that it doesn't look as "we have the money, we'll buy anyone who had 2 great seasons in last period of their careers"

in fairness he's only a few months older than tevez was when we signed him and the same age as silva now got minimum 5 or 6 seasons yet and in the last 3 seasons he's had a goal ratio of 0.8 per game in argentina prior to that it was 0.5 and in his break through season it was 1 with 7 in 7

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but the information from yesterday's programme of Punto Pelota says Atletico owes 21 million Euros for him. And the consensus is if they don't get into Europe they'll have to sell him.

Would that be Europe as in Champions League or Europe as in Europa League? Because the revenue from Europa League isn't very substantial at all and they have no chance of reaching the Champions League. Currently just outside of Europa League with a good shot of getting back in though (do winners re-qualify automatically?).

Atletico are in horrendous debt though, there have been a lot of stories about it and one said that the Aguero fee went straight to the tax man (think I pasted it in this thread somewhere) so it's no wonder they owe money on Falcao. €21million owed could mean they haven't paid a penny so far if he is 50% owned by Mendes as his transfer fee was €40million with €7million more if incentives are met.

I'm 99% certain that the winners get an automatic bye into the Champions League group stages.

Winners of the Europa League go into Champions League? Surely not, it'd actually make teams take Europa League more seriously though. Atletico won the Europa League the other year and weren't in the Champions League the next year.

Would be a great buy, his goal record speaks for itself and he seems to be single-handedly carrying Athletico. Imagine a strike force with the work-rate of Aguero, Tevez and Falcao. We don't NEED him, but if they were forced to sell, we should definitely consider.

How does he compare to Cavani?

I wrote later that I somehow thought he is 28 so that argument of mine is not valid anymore.

I'm standing with others though - I don't think City should buy any "hot at the moment" player, specially not those that would cost 40 + few odd more millions.

From what I've seen, Falcao is equal or superior in all areas.
