Rags in financial trouble?

It puts them in a similar position to the one we were in in July 2009 when we couldn't meet the second instalment on the transfers that Sven had done. The difference is that there is a legal relationship with the bond-holders who can enforce certain actions in certain conditions.

It's virtually inconceivable that they would go into administration but you do wonder how much the Glazers have taken out and how much trouble they're in financially if they can't meet a £20m payment.

It's come from Rodney Marsh who lives in Tampa and therefore presumably knows what goes on in the sporting world there. If asked they will naturally deny it and as the Glazer's companies are all registered in Delaware, which allows complete privacy, then we might never know.

I know this is Nothing to do with Rags in financial trouble but its still funny

Even by Premier league standards, £20m in one hit is an awful lot of money to find.
That's the equivalent of 25% of Everton's debt which is just increasing year on year

I'm not sure if 20 M is a big hit for the rgas. I'd guess they would pay out 5M a week on wages and that the players would defer for a while not wanting to have the MIBS on their case for killing the club.

My thoughts are if all club owners need to be fit and proper how can this be shown when accounts/records are hid in Delaware. In any case it's better for us the longer Uncle Malc stays there bleeding the rags rather than a new owner with a clean slate with a large fanbase.

Here's a graph of their quarterly cash position. Their year-end is June so Q1 is Jul-Sep, Q2 is Oct-Dec, Q3 is Jan-Mar and Q4 in Apr-Jun.

So their cash position is worst in Q3 (i.e. now). This was done last year and since then their cash pile reduced by about £70m at year tend so they could have been starting from a much lower base in Q1 11/12. Overall they could be facing severe cash difficulties and going out the CL won't have helped that.

Prestwich- interesting, where's that from? As transfer fees are excluded, do you know why Q3 08/09 was healthy? And, therefore what has caused the reverse in 09/10 and 10/11?

Very interesting. Utd's modern history means the club's always likely to find someone to invest, but I guess the biggest difference between City in July 09 and Utd today is that the Blues had significant opportunity for growth... that's not true with Utd. In terms of success Utd can't really take a great leap forward; in terms of fanbase the same is true; cost cutting... possibly but is that what their fans will want.

I also can't really see Utd's former Chairman digging in his pockets and paying players' wages like JW did.
