Rags Vs City Post Match

This has been coming for some time.

On the day Rooney's shinner had Redknapp's fawning over it, Mike Summerbee said the day would come when we went to the swamp and took them apart. Even though the 6-1 came only a few months later, I think last night is the sort of thing he had in mind.

The 6-1 has a special place in our hearts and always will have. But we have to remember that we were better than them for the first half, but not by that much. We deserved our lead and took full advantage of the extra man and some suicidal play when the game was beyond them. But whilst it could have been 10 that day in terms of chances created, as the season showed overall the was not much between us.

Similar last season. We edged a close game. We were the better team, but not by that much.

Last night we outclassed them on every conceivable level. On last night's performance, not a single rag player would get in our starting eleven. Not one. Their one good period in the game, the second part of the first half, largely came about because we started getting sloppy and gave the ball away far too easily. MP put that right at half time and the rest, like the rags, is history. In front of their own crowd, on their own ground, they were humiliated - not by the score line, but by the manner of the defeat. We took them apart.

I think Mr Summerbee will have enjoyed last night. I know I did.

Superbly succinct Sir.

I agree with this post too, other than in 1 area, I think we could have found a place in our team for their one stand out player last night........

Michael fucking Oliver, never let them down once last night

Sorry had to post this from Rag Café :-

Nani at his best > Silva at his best but yes, Silva does seem a little more consistent.

They are so fucking deluded it's laughable.

Jesus Christ, whoever wrote that wants shooting.

Nani is an enigma. He does the same trick, blast from 30 yards with a hit and hope, looks great when it comes off, knocks the drink out of a womans hand in the second tier in the Stretford end when it doesn't.

Bang average player now. He has says where you wonder about his talent but those days are very infrequent, Ferguson lost faith in him and now seemingly Moyes too. Navas is better than Nani let alone Silva. I find comparing a playmaker to a winger incredibly stupid too. What next, comparing Mata to Ribery and Ribery when we compare them to Bayern, rather than Goetze and Kroos.

Been doing some sums, using wikipedia or soccerbase

Manchester City Starting XI last night:

Hart £600k
Zabaleta £6.5m
Kompany £6m
Demichelis £4m
Clichy £7m
Nasri £24m
Silva £26m
Yaya £24m
Fernandinho £30m
Jesus Navas £15m
Dzeko £27m

Total = £171.6m

Manchester United Starting XI Last Night

DeGea £19m
Evra £5.5m
Ferdinand £30m
Jones £16.5m
Rafael £2.6m
Carrick £18.6m
Cleverley Academy
Fellaini £27.5m
Mata £ 37m
Rooney £25.6m
Welbeck Academy

Total = £182.3m

Just did a guesstimate of the costs of the respective starting XI's. Ours came to £165m, theirs £188m.

They had 4 players on the pitch last night that cost more than our back 5 in total.
