Rags Writing City Reports For MEN

Dave, I agree with you but in the case of the postbag running up to the memorial match there was no balance at all, it was all that we were not going to adhere to it and that it would be a disgrace. I think it may actually have contributed, as did other coverage at the time, to just how impeccable we were that day as even you must admit on that particular occasion we were out to stick two fingers up to everyone as outside of blues it was widely reported and anticipated that we would ruin the silence.
Generally I am onside with what you have contributed to this thread thus far and I agree with 95% of the points you have made but the ****** memorial biased for me falls into the other 5% and was disgusting.

I didn't notice the postbag at the time to be honest Nixon and I don't read the Evening News every day any more.

I am prepared to admit that they may have selected the letters which went in to promote debate and, maybe, to stir things up a bit. But wouldn't it have been better for the paper if there was a passionate debate in the postbag between both sets of fans?

But, lets be honest, the majority of City fans expected the silence to be disrupted, so I would suggest that not many of us wrote in to say that the silence would be observed.

I don't know, I can't really be vociferous about that because I didn't see it.

[The slaughtering City fans got in the run up to the Muniich Memorial match from the Postbag to the sports sections was disgusting, & a lot of Blues stopped buying the M.E.N after that, me included.

In what way can the MEN control the Postbag?

Jesus wept...
You have never read the M.E.N,that is a FACT.
Get one, read it & you will find out.

Fair play to him for posting but I feel he wil always be fighting a losing battle. In fact I think it's a battle that he will never be able to win and is another nail in the MEN's coffin, which is a shame cos I like the paper and the bus rides home from work are fucking boring Monday to Wednesday's when I can't get my hands on a free copy!

City's new website to be launched on July 1st and will be a web based TV station which will be free. Apparently the owners have said they want it to be the best web site in the world and free to our fans. All articles will have film clips etc. will post more as I get to hear more.
They hope that it will be the first stop for City info, there will be a team dedicated to its production

Great news. Will we get to see the De Niro interview ?

From Manchester Confidential:

"Sharp-eyed readers of the sports pages in the Manchester Evening News could hardly have failed to notice a number of highly positive stories earlier this month by the paper's Manchester City reporter, Chris Bailey, notably praising the club's owners, and one in particular which implored the club to reject young striker Daniel Sturridge's wage demands, even if it meant the club losing him to Chelsea. Now Bailey has taken redundancy from the MEN and is about to move into a new role at the City of Manchester Stadium overseeing the club's website, digital and mobile platforms. Are the two events in any way related? Meanwhile, taking over the City beat at the MEN is Stuart Brennan, well-known at Scott Place as a massive Manchester United fan. But why not? His opposite number covering United at the paper, Stuart Mathieson, is actually, er, a City fan. Sleuth has a solution for this, why don’t they swap jobs? Doh."

apologies if already posted.

Seems a sensible suggestion.

Can't be bothered to look it up but I think Stuart Brennan said something when he posted on here about not being flavour of the month with the current regime at United for writing critical articles, so he's probably not prepared to comply with the Newspeak approach they expect from their MUEN man.
