Now everybody knows your a rag everytime you write
a an article about city they'll be Reading between the
lines and I'm sorry I'll be one of them and I understand
now why a lot of posts about the rags don't get through
on the forum there's no city fans left at evening news

I can assure you that there are no hidden agendas with me. As I said, I have never had any problems with City, and since becoming a journo have developed plenty of respect for people in and around the club.
As for the forum, I don't moderate it, but the lad who does moderate it four or five days a week is very much a Blue, and a match-goer at that.
I suspect the messages which don't get through are due to bad language (you're not even allowed to say arse in the MEN!), potential for libel or something similar.
I can assure you there is no anti-Blue conspiracy, and the sports desk is still a fairly even split Utd-City wise.
I can assure you Stuart that anything slightly below the belt posted on the red side of MUEN gets pulled and there are dozens of people over on there who will back this up(Its a pity its not done equally)United have been the kings of media manipulation for decades no more so than with our local newspaper.Youve got a tough job infront of you but from a blues perspective your a red working in a red biased newspaper sports section.tell me something-why have the MEN never ran a story (and i mean a proper story) on the MUFC debts?

I've just read the article "Blues not the new Chelsea" and I must say it's good read
and pretty spot on. I just think you have a very difficult job

Absolute bolloxs and you know it........... The paper constantly belittles us as a club and making you citys official deliverer of 'news' makes a mockery of the whole situation..... A little advice, instead of being a sheep like Mr Bailey deliver something of substance, not something your told to write. And we both know he landed his job because he takes a leaf out of the stepford wives in regards to city officials.
Sorry but you'll always be a rag to me. (:

I've got to agree. Hopefully your horrible past will make you a bit more independent. I don't want to read a paper that just sucks City's dick; I want one that tells me what's actually going on without a shitload of spin.

I thought Bailey did an ok job over the years, but some of his recent pieces have just been embarrassing. He may as well have given Garry Cook the byline, because he clearly wrote them.

Good luck.

chris bailey is joining city? funny that, his pieces for the last 3 months have read like he already works for the club.

good luck stuart, the paranoia is real over here, but, it seems to me, that the moderation of the comments does indeed let too many rags have their say on our business.

Welcome Stuart,

It's good of you to have come on and commented on the issue of who is replacing Chris Bailey.

As fans we ask for the club to be reported on in a fair light, Chris didn't always agree with goings on made by the City hierarchy and would use the 'Comment' Section to make those points. I hope you can do the same.

Ideally it would be a City fan that reports on the goings on at the club, however, it can be appreciated that due to the economic climate, for the time being this is not possible at the MEN. All we ask is that you keep observations fair. If the team have played well this should be accurately reflected in Match reports, however, if the team have been poor then criticism is only to be expected regardless of who is writing the reports. A quick glance on here after a defeat and you'll discover that some of the harshest criticisms come from our own fans. (as is to be expected with any club)

Like you said it is an exciting time to be in any way associated with the Club and I wish you the best of luck and trust your professionalism to do a good job. I'm sure there will be times when your allegiance with Un*ted will be called into question (maybe from me!) but Chris Bailley's been called a rag on more than one occasion and eve Jimmy Wagg isn't excempt from criticism. If you are fair in your article's I'm sure the majority of blues will be more than fair with you.

Best of luck.

Its a difficult job thats agreed but only made difficult because if you write the truth then Peter Spencer doesnt get invited round to Taggarts whisky tasting evening's at Ferguson towers-The MUEN suck upto MUFC and you can bet your bottom dollar that when United last had there "parade" in 1999 that Mr Spencer was at the front on a white charger throwing rose petals infront for Alex to walk on.

Messages also do not get through if they contradict the author or point out glaring mistakes ;)
