Raheem Sterling - 2016/17 performances

Aguero has never made a team of the season so it's no surprise the players picked for the Player of the year awards are odd. Sterling should be in there above Sane without a doubt, but I'm sure Sterling isn't surprised he's been omitted. I think many people forget how young he still is as well.

That doesn't really wash when players like Kane and Lukaku get nominated.

Of course not, it's still the anti-Sterling/City bias at play. Sterling seems to have been around for a long time and even though Kane hasn't performed for England, after leaving Liverpool it was Raheem that was to blame. He's going to have to do ten times more than Alli or Kane to ever get the same credit. It's like his assist for Defoe with England. That goal came from his pace and strength to get past the defender, and pick out a man. Not many, if any, other English players would have been able to do that, regardless of it being Lithuania.

According to the media, a player who performed better at the start of the season has historically received a disproportionate amount of votes, mainly because the PFA votes were cast in February. However, that makes no sense whatsoever when comparing Sane (who hardly played before Christmas) with Sterling who has played well throughout.

With Sterling who had a blistering start to the season you mean.

Like most have said, I love Sane but he hasn't been better than Sterling this season. Sterling has been our best most consistent player all season and probably in line to win player of the season for us.

Yep.
I was deliberately understating because in my eyes Sterling has been our most consistent player this season, (although that probably says more about our issues at Full Backs and Goalkeeper, plus KDB's inconsistency, Aguero's stupid indiscipline, and Silva's lack of impact in the big games).

What we really need to do is be winning trophies and leave bullshit like this to ibrahimovic to win while his shitty team languish just above mid-table.

Also doesn't tie in with other strikers getting the nod over Costa.

Costa was top scorer up to mid-february, only after then did he fall away.
