Raheem Sterling - 2016/17 performances

Thought he did ok today. Had a lot of defensive numbers around him. But got plenty of the ball and generally used it well.

Everyone else we talk about their game. With Sterling it seems some want to turn every game into a debate on his future at the club.

It's sad.

Wasn't great last night but not for lack of trying.

Still seems panicked when he's shooting but I don't agree that he's not capable of striking it well, look at that one that he hit straight at De Gea in second half, that was well hit.

Stay wide beat the man and cross the ball thats what both wingers should be doing seems to go inside a lot but saying that next season with younger faster fullbacks it will be them doing wing play.

Anyone actually think he can significantly improve and be an amazing, consistent talent that terrorises defences??

Sure he can do something good against the lower sides but not when it matters.

i thought he was decent last night, when he ran at there defence they couldn't get near him. it was tough though as he had so many defenders around him when he got the ball.

Both him and Sane are fantastic when they have space to run at people.

I think that's the issue at the moment. The two of them are lethal when space is available to get them in behind. But it's a bit too easy to nullify them by defending deep and showing them inside.
To be honest, I would have thought it must have been worth switching them over at some point last night - Sane in particular is more than capable of posing a threat coming inside onto his left foot.

Absolutely.

And he has already performed excellently for us in some of our bigger games.

Needs to practise shooting. Once he has that in his bag he'll be a lot more dangerous as at the moment when he's out wide there's never anyone in the box to offer support, and if there is then it's only Aguero!
Once the lad is confident in his shooting capabilities he'll be able to cut inside a hell of a lot more and score 20 a season I reckon! The lad could be an English type Arjen Robben
