Untouchable!

I'm going to keep reserved again this year with him. Flashes of utter brilliance...but, I want to see it against the big guns. That was missing last year and he should have a lot more space and experience this year.

So if he can do it against the top 6, we'll have unlocked that potential we are all starting to see in him.

I think this is completely the wrong stance to take. It's like 'everyone is doing well, but you kid, I'm watching you. I'm not going to praise you or like you, I'm going to wait and see if you can prove yourself to me'. Just let him be and he will flourish.

Nearly every player was poor against the top 6 last season, hence us not winning a single game against them.

Will you be putting the same expectation on De Bruyne, who was crap against most of the top 6 as well in the games he played? What about Nolito or other new signings? Will you refuse to accept them as doing well until you see it against the top 6?

Sterling was easily one of our best players in the Champions League last season and was only behind Aguero and De Bruyne in the amount of goals he was involved in on the whole. He scored 11 goals, which is way more than Nasri, Milner, Navas, Johnson ever managed from the same position. Not bad for a 20/21 year old.

As for this season, he's been our best player. De Bruyne has been great the last 3 games, but Sterling has been great or very good in all but one of his games and even then he played a big part in the 2nd goal at the swamp.

It isn't exactly like for like though, is it.

The difference being Raheem is still young and relatively unproven. Kev & Nolito have been around longer and have had their opportunities to shine on other stages.

I'm the first to agree that the muppet in charge last season did Raheem no favours last year, but at the same time what I said is an honest appraisal of a flaw last year.

Now like it or not, we've played one of the big teams this season, and it just happened to be Raheem's quietest game of the season. That's a fact, backed up by his other games stats. If you want to compare him to Kev, well Kev stepped up and tore the rags apart, didnt he. But you cant do that because it's a different system for each of them on the day and of course we'll have games where an opponent will nullify specific players, hence why I said I want to sit back and see how he performs against all of the big teams. By the end of this season, we should have a pretty clear idea of what Raheem is exactly, and what he isn't. But let's not kid ourselves and get excited just because he's tore a godawful bournemouth team apart.

Mate, this is just a ridiculous.... The kid is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't... How's about giving the lad the credit he deserves. It takes more than talent to be a successful player, it takes heart, he's responded by showing a big pair of bollocks this year...... Also, for the record, he was probably our most effective player in the champions league last year, against opposition a great deal better than the average prem team, the problems started when his natural game was being coached out of him my nosfaratu.....

Nobody is.

He's our player, he's doing well and he's doing it consistently.

There should be nothing more to it. No need to have him in particular with a judges hammer waiting over him.

Does Iheanacho get the same treatment?

Yes but then there was that debacle with the sink...

He's been absolutely phenomenal this season, his performances have been ridiculously good and what's frightening is how much better he can actually become.

We've got a true gem on our hands, with a top class manager to nurture him.
