MOTM today.

Another match winning performance for our Raheem.

Took his goal very well. His dribbling was Neymar-esque tonight.

Easily one of the best wingers in the world. Does that make him world class? I think so :)

16 goals and we are only half way through the season.

Top class finish. Excellent. I prefer him on the right with Sane on the left but he had a great game. I hope Sane is back in on Sunday. I think he is the key to breaking down parked buses.

He has pace in abundance and would like to see him bomb down the wing past the last defender more than he does. Last night he had several opportunities to do that but chose to stop and slow things down a little.

Would be good to see him mix it a bit more but whilst playing on the left that going to the byline is not likely to happen, much better off driving at defences centrally coming in from wide rather than trying to hit crosses on his weaker foot.

Shame he will go off to Russia and be castigated after he doesn’t win the World Cup single handedly. Even if he did the media would still slag him for being so selfish and winning it himself.

World class this season

And cross with his weaker foot into the box for 2 city players surrounded by 6/7 newcastle players. Imo he's playing with way more intelligence in his game when on the ball now than he ever has that's why he's restricted from doing that this season. He only chooses to use his sheer pace to beat a player down the wing when he believes there's a high probability of a decent chance occurring(i.e not when the opposition have all men behind the ball and in their box). It's why his successful take on percentage is at the highest its ever been when he probably tries even less now and also a reason he's been dispossessed or loses possession less compared to previous seasons. Like pep said he's choosing his moments much more wisely now in when to take a player on, dribble, or just keep possession and start again. In fact most of his best work this season has been when he's come inside to link up and create a chance from a quick one-two or give and go with a player(see 1st goal against leicester or winner against huddersfield, feyernoord etc) which is often way more effective to create a better chance and difficult to defend against than constantly trying to beat a player one on one with pace down the wing and put a cross in. Last season he was more of the latter while this season he's been the former and is a big reason his stats have almost been reversed in respective to his goals/assists compared to last season.
