Raheem Sterling - 2017/18 performances

Should have scored at least two more yesterday, the one where he hit it straight at the keeper after KDBs pass would have been one of the goals of the season.

He keeps trying to place shots between the keepers legs instead of chipping them or doing an Henry-style bend it round them.

He's made big strides with his finishing this season but 1v1 with the keeper, unless he takes it round them, he doesn't score that often. Still, he's clearly a work in progress, which when you consider he's on track for 30 goals this season...it's a very exciting prospect. His finishing will continue to improve.

You're spot on about his type of finishing and hopefully it's something that will improve with simply being in those positions more. It's kind of weird to be lambasting his finishing as his output this season is so impressive, BUT his movement is so good that he's continually in those positions where he's 1v1. Like you say, it's composure and if he calls himself more he really could be a regular +25 a season player.

He’s got a hell of a lot of improving to do.

You’d think he seems to have improved a lot but looking closely is that mainly because he’s being provided with time, space and good balls from Silva and de Bruyne? and being coached well about where and when to make runs?

Not so much about his ability improving?

Chances like the two 1on1s with the ‘keeper he had on Sunday were pure non-finishers-finishes. Any old attacker from anywhere in the Prem can score those with more composure, better control and better finishing than Sterling showed there.

And that’s just two examples.

And he’s not the only one.

I think all three of our young attackers have a hell of a lot to learn and a hell of a lot of improving to do. Despite all the goals and assists they have I think they owe a lot to the brilliant midfield behind them laying them on a plate for them.

The criticism of him in this thread since Sunday has been largely fair until you came along with your hyperbolic nonsense.

There's room for improvement in thesevtype of situatuons but there's no need to exaggerate.

Think he deserves more credit than he'll get for the assist to De Bruyne's goal. Kev played 1 bad pass all night, and it was that one to Sterling, putting it awkwardly behind him, but Sterling picked it up and still managed to get the pass through a couple of players.

When he got switched back to the right wing he started making everything look ridiculously easy again, maybe we should start him on the left more and let him switch sides later in the match?
