Raheem Sterling - 2017/18 performances

He missed a sitter and retains he has work to do on his finishing. He gets into good positions and needs to keep learning and developing. He has had so much shit in his short career from dipper fans and england fans and come through it. He will come through this. Considering our gap at the top would be single digits without his contribution I think he was allowed one miss that ultimately cost a couple of points (though other chances could also have been taken).

Liverpool away was the start of this dip in form for me, a game where barely anyone had a good game and a game that always seems to affect Sterling.

West Brom(recalling purely from memory as I saw it) was for me the assist for Aguero AND everything that came before it, the turn and the dribble that got him space to allow him to set Aguero on his way. He also assisted KDB which is probably the assist you were referring to as it was the most direct assist but that wasn't my pick of the game.

Against Burnley no assists, no goals... but then who else did other than Danilo? He fluffed a chance... get over it.

Also why are you so mad about dropping 2 points to Burnley away?

It seems there's a minority that think every dip in form is the truer indication of the real level Sterling is at, as if he's been over performing making their opinions look bad for the majority of the season.

For me it is a dip in form and it happens to have a come at a bad time, with Sané and Jesus injured we are having to rely on Raheem a lot more heavily recently and it doesn't help that he has to switch to the left wing to accommodate Bernardo Silva. Not knocking Bernardo as I want him to get game time, it's just obvious Sterling is far more effective from the right wing and he's become very comfortable there. Ideally with a dip in form we'd let someone else start and make him earn his starting place back and we would be starting him from his favoured position when he does start, at least while he regains it.

I've seen you say he's in bad form a few times...he's got 10 goals+assists (5 of each) in his last 10 league games, he's not in poor form at all.

The facts are simply not agreeing with the emotion it seems :)

It's crazy really - people were saying he had a shit game against West Brom, when he got 2 assists, including one where he beat 3 or 4 defenders before playing in Aguero.

He had an poor half, and more than made up for it in the second, but apparently that's a shit game now.

You are like a gambler, only tell of their wins, never the losses

There are many more wins than losses to talk about. The losses tend to make the most noise though for some reason.

IMO Raz will never be a complete/world class player like Robben, Hazard, Bale or Sanchez. He’ll occasionally miss sitters, his brain will short circuit making the final decision on counters, and he’ll go missing for a few game stretches.

What he is and will be is a top 6/15 RW for years to come. Expecting more from him is setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration at him which isn’t fair to him.

He’s having an outstanding season and I think it’s best to look at things in the macro rather than the micro when it comes to him.

Just my two cents.
