Sterling and Aguero the only ones that will score every second "big chance" they get compared to the other "top" strikers. His bad finishing is overstated because it looks awkward when he miss a big chance.

The most notable part of that stat is the number of chances, 28.

It's often said that Sterling scores so many simply because he gets such a huge amount of chances, but this debunks that. He's getting the same number as bloody Benteke.

The hip new cocktail in the NQ.

Some people laughed when I suggested he could be the heir to David Silva, but I saw it again last Sat.

He moved deeper and started to really control the game, and was instrumental in opening up Cardiff.

That pass to Gundogan was 100% Silva-esque.

He looks a real leader this year.

That pass was outstanding but what surprised me was the pace from Gundogan, where the fuck did that come from?

Came in today, looked 3 classes above everyone. He is simply our best player right now. Just more disruptive talent than anyone around.

Gundogan has offensive pace. It's a fallacy that has been repeated so often that it's now believd that he is slow.

He is just a bit lazy defensively and doesn't use his pace as effectively in that respect. Kinda like Mahrez. But he isn't slow.

This sounds like a really simple thing, but if you look at Foden's goal, Sterling waits and waits to give the pass until the exact moment the defender closest to Phil stops running backwards and has to try to challenge Sterling.

It's a tiny little thing, but just waiting that extra couple of seconds to give the pass means there's no chance of the defender getting anywhere near Foden and he has plenty of time to weigh up the shot.

Those are the kinds of little things Sterling wasn't doing 18 months ago, he'd give it as soon as the pass was on, and then the defender would have a chance to block the shot or get across.

This season he's just doing things like that. He's not just picking the right pass, but he's also timing things perfectly, or sometimes disguising what he's doing and adding some subtlety.
