What if he felt he was more likely to score with the panenka than striking the ball normally? Who are you to say how he is best taking a penalty.I do rate him, but he tried to make their keeper look a dick and it backfired. He has no need to try that and, on this occasion we got away with it. You would agree that had we got knocked out because of it, there wouldn't be many supporting his strategy at that pen on here

You may be right in that he may have been anxious at trying to find the corner and the best opportunity may have been the soft chip. Im far from the best person to advise him as everyone is on here, but I dont think many would have thought he would have missed by such a margin at his chosen way

You don't rate him at all given the amount of hrs you spend on his threads pickingI do rate him, but he tried to make their keeper look a dick and it backfired. I agree, I never rated him at first due to his inconsistencies and total lack of ability in front of goal. He has improved significantly and I now rate him as highly as our other stars now even though he still has the odd brain-fart of which his penalty was one.
Im sure everyone will support you should he try that again and it does cost us, so no worries

If it had cost us I’m sure more emphasis would be put on the fact that we started the game with 4 inexperienced teenagers, two making their first ever starts (if memory serves me right). The club and Pep clearly weren’t interested in winning at all costs, so why would Sterling be?
