We paid £100m for Grealish and had to give him game time...?"Me, the manager and the people at @ManCity know exactly what the reasons were…”
What does that mean?

OH, Raz, Raz, Raz, you've let yourself down lad. You know the City fans, we will always sing 'Once a Blue' to our 'old' players except when they say anything negative about us or our club. You know the media will spin anything to do City down. You've disappointed me Raz, but I will still shout 'Once a Blue' for you but without the enthusiasm I would have done. :-( :-)
Do we care?We paid £100m for Grealish and had to give him game time...?
Please read my second posting where I state that this was tongue in cheek. :-);it was a dig at the media not at RazI watched the whole interview.
What was it when you watched and listened to the interview that you interpreted as " negative" about fans or the club. ?
He " Lived the dream " at City.
Please read my second posting where I state that this was tongue in cheek. :-);it was a dig at the media not at Raz
As someone else pointed out- Sterling played the second most minutes of our wingers only to Phil. Sounds like he just doesn't want to admit he became third choice. We paid £100m for Grealish and had to give him game time...?
My bad! I should’ve guessed;)Most of my posts are tongue in cheek and that one definitely was. I’m not an overly serious person when it comes to it, apart from John Boy, ;-)
I realised that whatever Raz said would be added to and exaggerated, rather as someone else posted, him being an England International so I was just being ‘daft’. Sorry. :-)
If you watch the All or Nothing documentary about City, there is a part when Pep is discussing Raz after that miss against Burnley. He stated then that when he had time to think his finishing wasn't great. Surely Raz saw that and obviously knew what Pep thought about him as a player. It wouldn't have helped his confidence to know that is what his coach thought about him.A very talented player and improved significantly under Josep, but he never convinced that he was world class and he had quite a few 'oh Sterling!' Vv. His interview in The Times doesn't develop what the 'reasons' for the change were - perhaps the precursor to another scoop later on - but makes me think it was simply Pep saying expressly or impliedly that he didn't trust him invi the big games.
He was right though.. any time at all to think about it and Raz generally fucked it upIf you watch the All or Nothing documentary about City, there is a part when Pep is discussing Raz after that miss against Burnley. Not sure doing it for England and us has got to do with anything, the drop off in quality from us to England is huge.Surprised that anyone thinks there's much in what he said. Anyone can read between the lines that Pep stopped trusting Sterling after Lyon, that he wasn't playing in the biggest games, and that their relationship never quite recovered. Must be hard when you're still doing the business for England, so he's backed himself at another club. I'd be shocked if there hasn't been some fraught chats between the two over the last few years. Everyone's an adult, and we don't need our manager to be the player's best friends.
Grealish was never brought to replace Sterling was he? More like a Bernardo replacement if anybody. We paid £100m for Grealish and had to give him game time...?
No, I'd agree with that. Just think the player still believes he's good enough to build a team around, and had been successful in other teams when that was the case, so backed himself. I've no problem with that, me and (more importantly) Pep didn't agree, but there's no hard feelings. Not sure doing it for England and us has got to do with anything, the drop off in quality from us to England is huge.
He simply came to the end of his shelf life with us and clearly both parties felt the same.
A fine player in our shirt for a majority of his time with us.
Wonder what Pep is talking about here?
Yes, of course I do. It’s common knowledge that Sterling moped around like a bear with a sore arse when he wasn’t selected and that doing that pisses Pep off.Personally, I hate these aggregator quotes when the full context of what Pep was saying is lost. Simply, it was Pep talking in generic terms yet again about "happy face". Something he has done repeatedly over the years.
Wonder why you've posted it on here? Do you think it was specifically about Sterling?
Saved the best til last.I’ve just watched a replay of the Villa game. What an amazing final contribution he made. Without the first goal the comeback might not have happened.
It's very true though. If you watch the All or Nothing documentary about City, there is a part when Pep is discussing Raz after that miss against Burnley.
