So we should of got Clyne instead of going in for this Fabinho if we need English players. The point is that we've overpaid a fair bit considering he was so desperate to leave, especially compared to already proven world class players who rivals have bought.

You make it sound as if City can buy any player off the shelf. We can't. Some players want to join us, some don't. Some fit our needs, some don't.
United have chosen to go with a world cup winning class act, but he's getting on and his season long durability is under question. It might work out for them, it might not. We're choosing to go with a very highly rated young prospect, who again, might work out, might not. United know they have 2-3 years at best with their buy, and then he's written off. We could have 10 years with ours (potentially).

There's no right and wrong to either set of buys, but we've won 2 league titles recently which suggests we're not doing a bad job of things overall. We've also managed to get the right side of FFP, and we're now considered to be one of the top 10 clubs in Europe by most people's reckoning. We're generally making the right decisions.

So why start questioning now? We've had 25 years of opportunity to REALLY question some of the choices City have made. The last few years far less so.

He was a good prospect but he wasnt exactly great last season. Hes probably a £25-30 million player based on his current abilities.

When we compare youth we often look at Arsenal and players like Ramsey are way ahead of him in terms of development.

Hes nowhere near being great player there is a lot of development needed in him. Youll find he cant shoot, he runs into a lot of dead ends and his final ball is suspect. The worst part of his game is the final 1/4 of the pitch. There is a lack of substance.

The England game against Italy in the world cup typifies his performance. He looks good on the ball, he looks like he was tearing italy apart, but he didnt actually contribute anything significant in the game.
