I don't rate him tbh but if the club do want him, as they obviously do, then they should not go in with a third bid too soon. Leave it at least three weeks. If someone else comes in for him then we can always outbid them but if they don't then it strengthens our hand if we go back in. We already appear too desperate for him and I'm uncomfortable at giving that lot more money for Sterling than we paid for Aguero. Can see it ending up north of £45million.

Anything above £35m and we will have over paid.
Anything above £40m and the scousers will have totally fleeced us.
He's simply not worth it. At that price you should be purchasing a proven top class
finished article. Raheem is far from that no matter how you judge it.

Hi ToorakBlue, Dont think we can forget how important his HG status would be to us this year......and feel that HG status, his age and talent all mean we could value him higher than other teams....There is not many "English" players that could walk into our starting 11 but this guy can and will only get better playing with this squad.....He isn't the finished product but we wouldnt expect that at 20years old anyway.....get him playing next to Aguero, Silva etc....and I think we then see his "top class" talent....just my opinion!;)

I think he will and should develop massively around players like yaya, silva and aguero. Giving him extra confidence and help him with finishing and decision making. What I have a problem with is these people are constantly go on about the price of him, does it matter realistically? Are you going to lose sleep if we pay 40m for him. No.

As long as when/if he joins people support him and give him encouragement rather than slate him before he has even kicked a ball.

What's the real difference between 35 and 40mil? He's 20, England international and proven in the league. Even if it all goes pear shaped we'd get the majority of the money back in 2 or 3 years anyway

Personally, I can't see this not happening - they need the money and we need the player. He could be in our team for the next 10yrs and we'll look back and wonder why we were worried about 5mil here or there

He's as finished as it gets at his age

Imo we need him. He's what we've been crying out for in the last, he's fast, he's got a good end product and he's HG. I don't care whether it's 40m or 50m we need the player regardless, to win the top trophies you need the top players and he will certainly be one of them. Of course he's not worth 50m, but this is the reality and I'm not sure whether he would be anywhere near that amount if he was foreign but if we can take him for 50m and keep him for the next 5 years , then that's 10m per year for one of England's best players. I tend to ignore the fee and think more about the footballing side of things, and what impact it would have on the team, positives and negatives, and evaluate it from there. People say Liverpool are bending us over, but we're taking their best player away from them who also happens to be England's best talent, where do Liverpool go from there? Yes the fee is high, but there is a high amount of logic of signing him, and if it works out, the fee represents outstanding value, if not, it was worth the try. It's not like we're short on money anyway.
