Tbf if I was a Chelsea fan I would too

Say what you want about rudiger but for Chelsea he was their star defender

They plan on replacing him with Ake who is, with all due respect as he is very good, our 4th choice CB (who wouldn't be cheap)

but it'll be a bit of a step down from the lies of Kounde/Bastoni etc.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it looks like we're losing both Jesus and Sterling, so in that context to lose the goals and experience of Mahrez too would leave us with an inexperienced and unproven forward line.

Interestingly I just noticed that the official site lists "Forwards" as Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez, Haaland and Alvarez.

Foden and Grealish, who lined up in forward positions possibly every time they played last year, are categorised as "Midfielders". A change of approach or just admin?

The biggest problem i have with this transfer isn't actually that we aren't going to get a replacement in (supposedly), but more so that we are selling him to a direct rival. I know he wants to leave for guaranteed football and his contract is up next season, so he could in fact go there next summer for free. But i think it would be more likely that someone like Barca or Real Madrid would come in for him if he was free.

I actually don't think this transfer makes a lot of sense for Chelsea, they have lost Lukaku and they already have similar forwards/wingers who miss a host of chances.

I think our “wide” forwards will be narrow next season and our full backs on the overlap rather than inside.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see us okay 352 fairly often also.

Basically our width will come from full/wing backs.
