Think it through. He signs a new deal 18 months ago and ups his pay to £350k then who the fuck has the money to pay a higher fee and fucking stupid wages of £350k per week which he very much doesn’t warrant?
And what if he under performs?

This is how Barca and some others have operated...how did Sterling warrant a raise?...then how do you extend Rodri, Foden...maybe bump up Bernardo...all much more important and valuable then Sterling IMO...

Sounds like he wanted to write cheques his skillset couldn't afford.

Business common sense aside, he's been nowhere near good enough to justify a starting place in our team for at least 18 months.

He has stalled talks and made starting every week, the foundation of his conditions for signing.

The real question is, was starting every week a convenient ruse, and why did he not bring his best form to ensure an even stronger bargaining position?

My own view is that he always intended to run his deal down and just fancied a change of scene, has been found out by better players and a manager who was always just waiting for him to prove him wrong.
He was in the process of Milner-ing us. Never had any intention of extending his contract, imo.

Absalutely bang on the

Shake hands on £50m & go & frustrate the shit out of the racist Chelsea fans

We had 2 outstanding seasons from Sterling & will never talk him down for his efforts overall especially closing players down but for me his goal ratio especially in those big big games over his 7 years, Liverpool as an example has been wank

Hes wanted out for nearly 2 years now & would definitely run down his deal leaving City with 0 ££££

Thanks but all the best..

Proper shit Sterling, only made it into our top 10 scorers because of those around him. Somehow score loads of goals and got loads of assists because of those around him. Somehow fooled the best coach in football that he should play a key role in a team that won 4 out of 5 titles.

He wants to go, fair fucks, and his form hasn't reached previous heights but the revisionist bullshit is ridiculous. He isn't a product of the work of those around him, just chipping in with a goal (or miss) at the back post, he was part of it throughout.

As with most debates, the two extremes are the most vocal, whereas the truth lies somewhere in between.

He’s maximised his talents to become a regular goal scorer.

However, he probably peaked with us a couple of seasons back and hasn’t been happy here for the past 18 months or so.

Remember his interviews with England? Then his lack of celebrations as time went on.

He was going to leave on a free, so the club have to be pragmatic, take the best offer they get for him to reinvest in the team.

Only time will tell how much we will miss him.

If he wants to go, it is his right. He has been a mainstay of our team and a huge contributor of goals and assists. He isn't a fan, he isn't a Manc, and he doesn't need to show more than he has. We are blessed, absolutely blessed, that a player of this quality is no longer a guaranteed starter, because it means we have absolute top class elsewhere in our team. We don't need to be sour about him wishing to go, but thankful for his contribution and to wish him the best of fortune on his football journey. That is what makes us different from our Scouse brethren - you are allowed to leave our club on good terms, just always speak well of us and your time here, and we will return those kind wishes and thoughts.
