Rainbow laces campaign

A couple of dozen.

You only have to look where the majority being horrible on the City Facebook page to work out which area of the world has the biggest problem with what the club are doing.

I'd be blocking the lot of them if I were City rather than leaving their comments under the photos etc. Having said that, plenty are telling them where they can take their "support".

Gay rights campaigners swear blind it's far more. I do hope they haven't been smearing the figures.

Do countries with a Muslim majority population honestly believe homosexuality is ok? Can two men hold hands or kiss in public in Jordan or Iran?

Besides, there'll be more Blues in Stockport than Karachi. Of course that's where the comments are coming from.

No mate. I've got lots of native Qatari born Muslim mates out here and they are brought up to think it's about the worst thing a person can do. Had many an argument about it.

It's drummed into them from as soon as they can speak.

A couple of hundred countries have banned homosexuality? There's only 195 countries in existence! Go and have a rethink on that one!

Just checked. 75/76 still illegal depending on the source.

Punishable by death in five of those.

By death!!?!? In 2016. Backward wankers.

Sad thing is that only in the last two years have India, Nigeria and Russia made it illegal again.

That's going the wrong way.

Going to a game of football isn't the time or the place to alert folk to social issues that maybe are more likely to appear in a pub, it's 2 hours away from all that outside shit where you can focus your time and attention on the team you love, it's an escape where for those 90 mins of football nothing else matters, i spend my week being forced fed political correctness i don't want it at shoved down my throat ( no pun intended) when i have my escape from life/missus/work/kids at a game of football at a weekend.

That's great for you but unfortunately a lot of young footballers and a lot of fans have been lost to the game through the years due to the homophobic attitudes found in the dressing room and on the terraces. Maybe having not been in that position yourself you haven't noticed or had to care (im assuming you're a straight man from some of the things you've mentioned about yourself). If the club can make a small gesture like this for one weekend (ok maybe two if they do something for Pride weekend), so that LGBTQ fans can also feel like they too are welcome to join in with that 90 minute escape on a weekend and that they can feel safe and welcome in doing so, does it REALLY impact on you? What is it exactly you feel is being shoved down your throat? Nobody is forcing you to look at or do anything. There will still be amazingly talented teenagers walking away from the game today as they struggle with the baggage that might come with being a gay footballer and there will be gay couples who feel the need to keep their wits about them and not hold hands when they go to the match incase it elicits a bad reaction from someone. It's a really inoffensive gesture of the club to make and when people claim in a rather hysterical fashion that something is being shoved in their face, when it clearly isn't, you can't help but feel that that's betraying at best some ignorance and at worst some prejudice on the part of the complainee.

working at the airport and the range of people start at Neanderthal and finish at camp as tents proper broad spectrum ,same as race and religion ,its one big melting pot,in this day and age does it really matter what and who you are, i don't even give it a second though.

That's an incredible figure! I didn't realise that countries were also REVERSING the law and making it illegal again.

Indeed, a long way to go

is racism/homophobia really a problem in football, not in my opinion it's far more widespread in pubs

Are we still allowed to question other cultures and beliefs ?
