#RainbowLaces

Quite a host of Brands have backed this season's campaign:

The campaign is supported by Metro newspaper, which will only advertise brands supporting the campaign on Monday.
It is also supported by Premier Inn, who are renaming as Premier Out in all communications for the day, HTC/Carphone Warehouse, Playstation, Sega, Relish Broadband, KLM, Heineken, Pepsico, Lastminute.com, Dr Martens, BT Broadband / BT Sport, Starbucks, Fiat and Jersey Tourism are just some of the brands involved.

This is when you'll see the greedy bastard clubs backing this campaign.... When big business gets involved.

Football will do anything if there's a few quid knocking about.

Football = Sports very own Rent Boy.

I hope Arsenal get bummed this weekend, come on City

disclaimer: I have nothing against homosexuals, I'm actually all for Lesbians

On a serious note good cause, any exposure has to be worthwhile

Good to highlight anything that is unacceptable in modern society.

The thing is though - is homophobia rife in football and on the terraces? Was wracking my brains to think of the last time I heard anything that could constitute homophobia. The best I could come up with was when we used to wolf whistle Robbie Savage - which wasn't even homophobic.

Homophobia is disgusting and has no place in society, never mind sport/football. I just can't recall having heard anything at the matches I've been to.

Let me be the first to admit that I am sort of a Neanderthal. Still struggling to understand the ways of modern civilization. Maybe I am a little thick in the head or somethings don't add up for me.

Its none of my business though.
If you're talking about the acceptance of homosexuality, which I presume you are, just see it as yet another way the human race can learn to love each other just that little bit more, because that's what it is. Anything that spreads the message of love and acceptance is going to help society progress. Look forward to a future where more people love each other and it'll add up for you very quickly.

Right I'm going to say it; I'm sick to death of this positive promotion of all things LGBT.

Why?

Because in sport there should be no mention of sexuality, just as sport should be kept free of political bias or racism.

Now admittedly I cannot but help think that all this paint it rainbow, wear it rainbow bollocks is opportunistic by the LGBT brigade to try and convince the world that in every stadium, changing room and supporters coach there are a bunch of heterosexual men and women looking to smash (not literally thank God) them. It simply is not the case. I have been attending football for nearly 40 years and I cannot recall a single instance of a proven attack on a LGBT fan or player!

Facts are it's not the problem that this grouping would gave you believe and as I have always believed, if you don't want controversy or hassle then keep anything that might cause such circumstance private; much the same way as I would not go down the local mosque and shout pro-american rhetoric or indeed go down to Old Trafford and sing Munich songs!

In short keep sexual persuasion out of sport because I for one and no doubt countless others are sick of hearing about it!

Right I've said it!

You really should read this if you think that's the case:

good to see clubs and especially players getting behind this now. Am i right in thinking there was going to be a campaign a few years back but not one premier league footballer would be the spokesman for it? remember being very disapointed when i heard that.
Last year iirc, they attempted the same rainbow laces campaign and not a single club went for it I think, each making an almost coordinated excuse as to why they couldn't. It seems like it's only because PaddyPower have got involved that any of them dare do it, which is pretty pathetic.
Not quite true.
