Convinced to this day had we kept him on loan we'd have stayed up.
We beat Huddersfield away 3-0 and he ran the show and the next thing his loan was up and not extended.
I think you could only have 2 loanees at the time and Royle went for Lee Briscoe and one other I can't recall..... (Richard Jobson?)
With Beardsley we'd definitely had got one more point that would have seen us stay up - though with hindsight then we'd never have had the Gillingham moment!
