Rangers thread | 2025/26

How much did Spurs spend on their squad?

I know we outplayed them in a one off game but we are nowhere near winning the Europa League

I honestly think we will struggle in next round of our League Cup at home to Hibs

We will see things a lot clearer at the end of the window. Looks like Igamane is away and possibly Dessers with Bojan Miovski coming in. I’d be reasonably happy with Bojan , plus it’ll piss off The Sheep which is never a bad thing. We need another left back, creative / play making midfielder and possibly another decent striker
Obviously, Spurs are a more "minted" club than you. But that wasn't my point. You totally dismissed your chances of winning that trophy. While I agree that it's unlikely, Spurs showed that a mediocre side can win the competition. There's a lot of poor sides in that competition, particularly now that there's no CL drop outs going into it. Look at the rags; they got to the final, FFS!

I agree and was shocked the rags knocked out Lyon who were outstanding against Rangers. The thing is we are not in that league and have punched miles above our weight

It’s like me saying Wycombe Wanderers can win FA Cup as an average Palace won it last season. I only picked Wycombe as I remember they had a fantastic cup run in recent past. It’s possible but highly unlikely

At what £price? Im guessing north of £70m. Whilst having a squad that cost 4x that. Not the same.
Like your Rangers mate, you totally missed the point. I pointed out that a garbage side (which Spurs were last season; not yesterday!) can win the Europa League. He totally dismissed that possibility.

What was this talk I was hearing about Rangers deciding to go ahead with today's game. Was there some risk, that I hadn't heard of, about the game not going ahead. Anything to do with the CL game next midweek?

Spurs are not a “garbage” side. For a start they’ve had a great record , regrettably, against City

It’s a shambles. Rangers , Hibs and Aberdeen asked for these games to be postponed to help qualify for European Group stages. Rangers had Djiga sent off v Dundee so then decided to play today so Djiga is available for next week

IMO if Rangers had officially asked for the postponement then there is no way they should have been allowed to then change their mind. Big question is did they officially ask or was it just presumed they would

They were last season. A decent side doesn't finish one place above the relegation spots. But they raised their performances in Europe. You did the same, iirc. Mediocre at home in Scotland, but okay on your travels.

Plus, the biggest fly in the ointment. You missed. When the Penny dropped, and they realised to postpone and then lose to us, would see them 10 points behind us..in August! So, quick about turn.

To be fair, the number reduced, to 9 behind in August.

My mate phoned at FT today to tell me he’s not going next week. He’s had enough and booked a week away in Gran Canaria …. Fucking coward : )))))

Then again a week in Mogan is going to look pretty good if we get gubbed

I actually looked it up and they’ve spent £500,000,000ish in the last five years. I was actually surprised it was that much the way their support greet about Levy

I realise they had a poor league season but on their day they were capable of turning it on. Then again they were piss poor against Rangers

The point still stands though. Rangers are nowhere near good enough to win Europa league and that will be on nobodies mind. We need to get competitive domestically first and even that’s looking miles away at the moment

Hopefully to increase.exponentially, would be smashin. And certainly my first choice.

For the last time, I'll make it clear. I'm not comparing Rangers to Spurs (your lot are clearly better!). I was simply trying (and failing, clearly!) to point out that a meh team is capable of winning the Europa League. Which you dismissed out of hand when I suggested that Rangers should concentrate their efforts on Europe if they lose next weekend. I also never said that you would win the EL, just that you should give it a good shot. What have you got to lose?

Hopefully everything, but I do have a dog in the race.

I think Martin was a terrible appointment for Rangers, he has one style of playing and won't deviate from it.

I'm pretty sure bar 1 season at MK Dons every other he has conceded 60+ goals, which includes Southampton's promotion season in 2024
