LOL I set that up the other day; with a WEMO switch though. A lot easier than fucking around with raspberry pie or arduino.I am sorry to disappoint.
I will post pics of how much I get when I have mastered this gadget. My aim is to be able to make a brew from the living room, using my mobile phone as a remote control to do so. What more could a woman want?
I also set one up where the wife does the ironing, so never get the 'I can't remember if I turned the iron off, we'll after to go back and check' shite when we are out.

I have one hanging about but nothing to do with it. I mess around with Arduino's and they are actually useful.

Raspberry Pi's are wonderful, I have one in front of me right now, wired to a GPS receiver, that's my NTP server. There's another one in the back room monitoring air pressure, humidity and temperature and I also have one in my workshop permanently connected to a breadboard for general 'effin about'. I also like Beaglebone Blacks, although the Beagleboard X15 looks like the, err, 'Mutts nuts', I haven't got my paws on one of them yet.
I used to use a Pi to run XBMC when I was in UK, worked fine, no need for another set top box ;)
For anyone wanting ideas of how to use a Pi, watch Mr Robot :)

Tried a few times to get to grips with them. Was running XBMC on one at one point, but found it too underpowered to run anything decent.
You must have been on the pi 1 model A as the current pi 3 model b is super quick
