I' m not sure how supposedly suitable targets are identified by the Club but there must be questions as to its operation. Starting with Phillips we appear to have recently signed players who just don't appear to have it. In my opinion and I recognise it might be early days I believe Rayan Ait falls into that category. Bundled off the ball on a couple of occasions and ends up on his arse or the second Brighton goal. When added to his performance in the game in The Club World Cup I think we might have Mendy MK 2

Based on what we havent brought in its a 5/10 - not addressing clear and obvious weaknesses at all - fullback, centre halves, CDM should have all been top priority ahead of what we broughtin

24 hrs to change that

worst performance Ive seen from a city player since watching Mendy and Kalvin Phillips and that is a damning assessment.

If he doesnt change his attitude and approach he is going to be a problem

Thought he looked really good at Wolves, today though…so so poor.

he wasnt good vs Spurs while on the pitch either.

its either arrogance or inability. At one point he gave the ball away in the final third and fell on his arse trying to claim a foul - utterly disgraceful. Weak in the challenge, poor passing and a real apathy to his play especially defensively. On the second goal he has a player behind him but the guy who scores is clearly in front of him and he makes no move across until its too late to get to him when the clear danger is the player who is central and closer to goal.
Im a bit sock and tired of defenders who cant defend...between him Lewis and Nunes we are really lacking in any physical toughness in our back line.

I'm happy with the players that we have brought in but think we needed one or two more (especially given the injuries we seem to continually pick up), unfortunately we just don't seem able to move on a few players to make room for those though.

The GK situation will hopefully be resolved tomorrow.

At the moment I would say 7.5/10 but that could possibly change tomorrow.

Amazing how many people were dishing out 9s and 10s at the start of this thread. General consensus now seems to be around 6/7?

Never saw anything in him at wolves that suggested to me he was a top level player. He's clearly shite defensively, even against wolves most of there attacks and crosses came down his side. That Minteh had him on toast today. Still have high hopes for Reijnders think technically he looks fine, but the pace of the league have caught him out the last 2 games.

5 possibly a 6 can't really judge new lads yet
Reinders looking the best of the outfield players at the moment .Ain't nouri has looked lost last 2 games and cherki now Injured but looked good in spells the times he has come on.James Trafford has come back well from the spurs game and that save today was Gordon banks like .Our wingers are poor and all have zero numbers so we do need 1 possibly maybe 2 class wingers. Also for me Bernardo legs look shot we need another midfielder who can tackle especially if gonzales isn't gonna get game time.

Got to be a 5.

Poor outgoings, however I give Viana a let off here because getting rid of some of those players, of whom some only have one year left, are 30+, are one £200k a week + and won't get better wages elsewhere, they were always going to play fussy with moving.

Neglecting right back. Impeccably poor.

Buying a new number one in Trafford and then deciding that one game into the season we should throw him under the bus by buying Donnarumma who on the face of it is the most anti-Pep GK you could find. Strange.

No standout star signings to make everyone really step up and take notice. We haven't had one since Haaland and you need at least one every other year as a top club. We had a really strong net spend in recent years, PSR was favourable by a couple hundred of million before sales, so the money was there.

You have to question why Wirtz chose Liverpool over us last minute despite being offered the KDB replacement role and us apparently doing a lot of groundwork for months prior.

He didn't join a mug club, far from it, but considering how much groundwork was done, it felt like they came in last minute and swooped him up pretty easily in the end.

Only Reijnders looks a nailed on starter in the team.

Cherki another project player, albeit a very promising one.

Rest are just meh at the moment.
