A season to write off. However, we haven't slipped outside the top 4 in the past 6 seasons? And it looks like we won't do that now either. Chelsea has done that twice. The rags have done that too. Everyone expect Arsenal and us. And it looks like it's finally Arsenal's time.

That's a good sign. And if this summer we get some top class young defenders, midfielders and perhaps bring in 1 top class forward. And Ederson at Gk. We will be so much stronger. And will have gone through an unnecessarily long transition period (because of some bad signings), without dropping out of CL.

5/10
Regressed in virtually every competition.
Arguably MP had a better season last term than Pep despite summer investment.

This season promised so much, the expectation was high, but I feel kinda deflated.
People keep saying this player or that player is not a Pep type player, what is a Pep type player, does a Pep type player even exist or have we all been caught up in all the hype.
We've seen no natural progression of youth through our system.
We played a weakened team against United in the cup, a no no in my eyes.
We may or may not limp over the line for a top 4 finish.
Constantly played players out of position, then dropped players who have hit a bit of form.
We surrendered against Monacco despite having a 2 goal advantage.
We were un-fortunate yesterday, bad decisions again,
I've witnessed some dire performances this season Leicester & Everton spring to mind, some of the tippy tappy football bores me to death.
So based on the above I've got to say it's a 4/10 season for me, would of killed for a season like this pre takeover but I now expect a lot more.

Considering the hype, track record and the book, 1/10 absolute diabolical. You may not have the players, but there are some crackers there. Play to their potential, don't ask plumbers to be rocket scientists ffs. What a crock of absolute shit. Would you give him $200M to play with, on top of what he's already spent, and the disruption he's caused to some great great pro's. Clichy, Sagna aside, they are beyond comment, jeez.

There really is some bollox written on here. Missed chances and poor refereeing have been the major issues. 2 missed pens v Everton, KDB hits the bar from 3 yards v Chelsea, we fail to close it out v Boro, the missed push on Sterling v Spuds. There are an extra 10 points that we probably would have had. Only one team can win any league or trophy and without some luck then it probably won't be your team wherever you are. And that's without the appalling refereeing this last weekend.

We will probably never have the Barcelona, Real or Bayern level of superiority in the PL, it's just too competitive for that.
7.5/10 for me but if all those opportunities above had been taken probably a 9-as I guess it would have been for many on here.

I think yesterday's result was probably City's most disappointing of the season, it was your one genuine chance for silverware and the team didn't really do itself justice. There has been some reactionary bullshit spouted on here borne out of deep frustration which is understandable.
However, there are clear reasons for optimism and a good summer transfer window (which is a must) will have City as the team to beat next season.
I think your season has been one of frustration more than anything, glimpses of brilliance but too much frailty to perform consistently all season. I think the Liverpool result yesterday will ensure City make top 4, if the players respond in the right manner to defeat yesterday they'll get 3rd place.
I would say B- overall, I can see what Pep is starting to build, but City have to be right in the challenge for the title next year all season long. Anything less would be unacceptable.

Done well, we have had plenty of games this season when we have dominated and been playing fantastic football. Pep cant score the goals himself, that is at the players door step. Injuries at key times, diabolical ref decisions and some bad luck have cost us dearly. It happens in football unfortunately.

Pep is playing with half a team in most games. Very naive to think he could get another season out of Clichy, Navas and so forth.
Most of our starting 11 every week has about 4/5 players who wont be here next season, I can't help but think that this isn't having an impact on their performance.

I will judge Pep once we have cleared out half of this team and he can rebuild it.

Never looked forward to a season so much and ended up so disappointed.
Got to get top 4.
Even if it's just to get above the shit

We've now played 13 matches (in all comps) against sides in the top 7 of the Premier League and we have won 2!!! This is whole crux of our season, 2 out 13 wins against decent teams is simply not good enough, not for Fat Sam, not for Whinger, not for PEG and not for our manager. On that basis I'd have to rate the season 2/10

We need to salvage CL qualification. If we do it has been a disappointing season. If we don't it has been a very disappointing season. In hindsight we probably should have known when we failed to land some defenders last summer. Our full back situation has been a disaster.

This season hasn't, and by this club's standards, will never be good enough. Top 4 is not a trophy and is the bare minimum. However, I'm still optimistic and think Pep has ultimately been the victim of his own success. if you expected him to come in here and piss the league in his first season then that was ridiculously naive. He succeeded immediately at Barca and Bayern because they were clubs founded upon the 'serial winner' mentality. Bayern were always going to walk the Bundesliga, and Barca were Barca. We are City. Yes we have had success recently but I would hardly call us serial winners.

We, as a club, in my opinion, still don't have the mentality required to push on and win and win and win. It's all well and good coaching pretty football, but instilling a winning mentality is quite simply a luck of the draw. You need a few big games to go your way and get you over the line and we haven't got any of that luck this year. It's also pretty important to have players with that mentality in the team, of which we have few. Pep has never been at a club like ours before so it is somewhat unfair to hold him to the amazing standards he has produced at other clubs. For all we know, he could completely fail here and that will give us a better idea about him as a coach. However, if you watch City, you know he's good at his job. You look at his teams and you can see he has a plan. His fullbacks tucking in field are a good example, as well as his wingers usually cutting off half spaces off their wing as opposed to tracking the fullback directly.

People keep mentioning the big games as an issue, but my god, at least it's better than last year. Last year we were tepid as fuck. We would show up and pose no legitimate threat to any of the top 6, and they all knew it. This year though, we should have beaten pretty much all of the top teams at least once. Chelsea at home, for 60 minutes, I thought we were outstanding and made Chelsea look shit. Spurs at home, we battered them more than Chelsea and somehow (due to dodgy officiating) left with only a point. Liverpool we should have got something from as well. The away performances certainly need to improve, but if you look at any big team in the league this year (bar Liverpool) none of them win big away games. Chelsea have only won at the Etihad and Spurs haven't won away at any of the top 6.

For me, these games show we are more competitive than we were last year and it's a case of us not taking points because of our own errors, or refereeing and not because of the other team giving us a beating and I would certainly rather have that. Pep can't score goals himself unfortunately, and if he could, we wouldn't be where we are in the league. He has set us up, time and time again, to create a ridiculous amount of chances, but we haven't got the players to take them. We have drawn far too many games this year because we have only one player with any form of killer instinct in front of goal. Hopefully that will be rectified next year.

I certainly don't go along with every decision he makes. The switch to the back 3 from October to December was risky, and looking back, could have ultimately cost us the title. His substitution strategy also doesn't appeal to me. Not necessarily who he replaces, although I questioned it massively yesterday with Sane's burnout, but more so how late he leaves it in games to give the team a shift in energy. Particularly Spurs at home, we needed fresh legs to keep them getting back at us, but he just left it until they got a foothold and got level.

So, no he isn't a messiah and can make mistakes, but ultimately, there has been progress in my eyes. Not in the league table, which is a massive let down, but in our actual style of play, I always feel like we can go into a game now and have a chance to create against anybody because he will set us up as such. Pellegrini appeared to show up with the same style of play every week and expect a different result than the week before. We had one of our best Champions League performances under Pep against Barca at home and we put 6 past Monaco, whilst still missing a host worth of chances. Never again do I feel we will go into game like the Madrid semi-final last year and not lay a finger on an opponent.

We still have a few key hurdles to overcome next year, but what's good is that Pep knows it. At no point this year has he said we are good enough. Time and time again he has repeated that we are well off the standard he wants, even after our first 10 games. Hopefully, in the summer, we will bring in a few players who can put the ball in the back of the net and we can kill a game off before the one shot an opponent has takes 2 points off us.

Games like yesterday can often take the focus off the positives of this year and it's important to not forget those. Pep needs time, and he may need even more than next year, but I believe he has the ability to eventually turn us into a powerhouse. The recruitment this summer needs to be good for a fucking start, however.

at this rate, Pep are going to be the worst manager since Syeikh take over. Disappointing season. I expect Pep to be more flexible with players he got at his disposal. Wait until he get the right players if he want to implement his method and philosophy.

I think this season has panned out exactly like a lot of people called it last summer. I was more optimistic and kind of turned my nose up at some people who suggested this current squad was nowhere near good enough, but now its clear that is the case. Some positives such as Sane, Jesus, Sterling, Stones who will be hopefully key players in years to come, but also at the same time some very poor performances. I think the basis of a very good side is in place, but this is probably the most important summer for us since the takeover. On the basis we have seen some moments of magic and hopefully a glimpse at the future, its a 6/10 for me.

Some spoilt ungrateful sods on here.

There was a time we would have an open top bleeding bus having a season like this.

There was also a time long ago when it would have been considered mediocre at best. In the here and now it has to go down as relative failure with the proviso
that it is considered to be stage 1 of a project and that things are meant to and will get better. Time will tell!
