We had what it takes to challenge for the league and could have. winner not being in Europe was a big disadvantage to us.
Events that affected our season
- Kompany injury
- Celtic 3-3 showed other teams that we are not comfortable when pressed (it was a matter of time).
- Pep a bit stubborn with Bravo. A spade is a spade, Bravo had no presence and control at the back after teams began pressing.
- Gabriel Jesus injury. We were still in as title contender and City was resurrected when he arrived.
- KdB losing form.
- Some questionable substitutions but I guess its Pep's way of learning the league.
Plus points
- Gabriel Jesus is a great player.
- Sane eventually got into his form. Took a while but he got there.
- Yaya tracking back and putting an effort. A different player.
- Return of Kompany kept the house in order.
Sell Fernando, Clichy, Sagna, Delph, Navas, Bravo. I would cut losses and sell Stones now. I was never a fan in his transfer thread but once he got signed I supported him as any other City player. Now the season has ended I don't believe Stones can play the level that we need in league and CL. After seeing what Kompany adds to the team mentality and defending, Stones does not fit in Pep's team after all. We need a younger Kompany like player like Virgil van Dijk.
