5/10

We had what it takes to challenge for the league and could have. winner not being in Europe was a big disadvantage to us.

Events that affected our season
- Kompany injury
- Celtic 3-3 showed other teams that we are not comfortable when pressed (it was a matter of time).
- Pep a bit stubborn with Bravo. A spade is a spade, Bravo had no presence and control at the back after teams began pressing.
- Gabriel Jesus injury. We were still in as title contender and City was resurrected when he arrived.
- KdB losing form.
- Some questionable substitutions but I guess its Pep's way of learning the league.

Plus points
- Gabriel Jesus is a great player.
- Sane eventually got into his form. Took a while but he got there.
- Yaya tracking back and putting an effort. A different player.
- Return of Kompany kept the house in order.

Sell Fernando, Clichy, Sagna, Delph, Navas, Bravo. I would cut losses and sell Stones now. I was never a fan in his transfer thread but once he got signed I supported him as any other City player. Now the season has ended I don't believe Stones can play the level that we need in league and CL. After seeing what Kompany adds to the team mentality and defending, Stones does not fit in Pep's team after all. We need a younger Kompany like player like Virgil van Dijk.

7/10
we knew from last season that the defense was dodgy and ffp affects the way you sell as much as buy . but it is hard to win anything when you concede with every shot on target
in the league cup our reserves and youth outplayed the eventual winners
in the league we outplayed every team we played but it is hard when you let in goals we gave chelsea 12 points advantage
in the fa like southamton in the league cup we were cheated out of a win
in europe we were never going to win this comp in the end the worst defense lost to the best attack on the away goal rule
all in all this season could have been a lot worse

7/10 from me. Could have been better but key injuries at key times. Also could have been worse. Roll on next season will be a different proposition with more mobile full backs and one or two other things in place. I am off to the transfer forum. No doubt it will get interesting hopefully soon.

7/10 from me. Some errors, perhaps from management imo but our core, attacking players have definitely demonstrated an upturn in increased work rate and desire from Pellegrini's last season and I'm hoping we get 8/10 or 9/10 from the next season with Pep's methods more time to formulate.

I love this quote"with this squad". Yet week in and week out WE moaned about how shit navas, Clichy, Kolorov, stones, Otomendi, Fernando, sagna are yet they make up the Great squad we have.?
Not picking on you but the"with this squad" bit. :-)
No worries, its all about opinions, I'd say those mentioned Clichy and Fernando aside aren't bad, even Kola has had a decentish year. Didnt I read somewhere that statistically he's one of the PL's top CB's?

Finishing 3rd in the Premier League and only getting knocked out to Monaco in the Champions League represents a pretty decent season when you consider the long term injuries to Kompany, Gundogan and Jesus and the sheer quantity of game changing decisions against us this year.

The football has been incredible at times, we've created enough chances to run up cricket scores in most games even when we've lost. The attacking quartet of Sterling, Sane, Jesus and Aguero look scary and they're only going to improve. The midfield have been brilliant at times, completely exhausted at others because Dinho, Silva and KDB haven't had a chance to be rested after Gundogan's injury. The defence looks brilliant one minute and appalling the next but we'll see a minimum of two new fullbacks I'd imagine and maybe another centre back. The keepers, Bravo has been a complete disaster no one could have predicted and Willy has done brilliantly in general but again I think we'll see a new keeper next season so the potential is definitely there for next season with a couple of signings and hopefully less corrupt officials.

7/10.

one of missed opportunities and poor refereeing, it a must do better of course, but there are glimpses into future of what could and should be

we achieved the bare minimum and it was an improvement on the season before points and position wise
