Our backup idea should be Raum, Borna Sosa, and Renan Lodi. I don't get it why are we focused on Premier League players instead of scouting around Europe.

It seems like a clear strategy to target players with Premier League experience this Summer doesn't it?

Aside form Haaland, who is an anomaly in every way, we've gone after Phillips and Cucurella. There'll be a reason for it, maybe a smoother settling-in experience? Both have experience of playing similar styles to us under Bielsa and Potter. I'm not complaining personally.

You don’t understand why we’re looking for players with PL experience?

Seriously?

It’s not complicated mate - they’re tried and tested in this League, firstly, so we know they can perform in the specific conditions of the PL. And they’re used to the weather, the standard of refereeing, the tactics managers deploy, the players.

They’re as close to a dead cert as you can get.

Yes, there are lots of excellent examples of players from other leagues who have adapted quickly - but it’s always a gamble, and often takes longer for them to hit their best form. And some never do!

It’s difficult enough to adapt to Pep’s system as it is - throw a new league and country in on top of that, and it’s definitely a gamble.

There’s nothing to say any of the players in your list would perform in the PL.

Would love to know how Raum/Sosa are better than our options? I havn't even heard of them and they dont seem to be playing in teams doing well either. Same can be said about the PL options, however they know the league and let alone a much better one as well.

Raum is offensively a way better player than Cucurella. And he is a starter under Flick, so you don't need a better recommendation. Just some passing to improve, but if he is playing in Germany he would have about 85% passing success. A very good player.

Raums class great crossing abilty and super strong would fit the prem like a glove.

Raum - Worse Defender
Sosa - Worse Defender
Lodi - Worse Attacker

Cucurella is clearly more rounded than all 3 in comparative stats until that deal is dead, he's the one.
