It’s not complicated mate - they’re tried and tested in this League, firstly, so we know they can perform in the specific conditions of the PL. And they’re used to the weather, the standard of refereeing, the tactics managers deploy, the players.

They’re as close to a dead cert as you can get.

Yes, there are lots of excellent examples of players from other leagues who have adapted quickly - but it’s always a gamble, and often takes longer for them to hit their best form. And some never do!

It’s difficult enough to adapt to Pep’s system as it is - throw a new league and country in on top of that, and it’s definitely a gamble.

There’s nothing to say any of the players in your list would perform in the PL.

Look, there are 100 cucu and ait nouri out there. But only few can prove. If you get raw players then they need time to adapt. But as for cucu or ait nouri who already performed, its more certain

None - but we didn’t take the risk on them.

Other clubs did.

The risk of them failing doesn’t sit with us - it sits with Brighton and Wolves.

With respect, we’re not competing at the same level as those clubs anymore. We’re trying to win the League and the Champions League every season.

If we take a risk and it fails, we risk losing out on the biggest prizes football has to offer.

If Wolves or Brighton buy a dud, it’s not going to be the difference between winning a League title or finishing with nothing. It has an impact, sure - but it’s not the same.

It’s all about risk - it’s not complicated.

That’s why Mendes does what he does at Wolves - to bring players into the PL and de-risk them for the bigger clubs, selling on those that work for a much bigger fee.

Clubs like us reward others for taking the risks we can’t afford to by paying more than they did for the same players.

Brighton and Cucurella is a great example. He was a risk when they bought him - he isn’t now. So we’ll end up paying Brighton for taking the risk on him.

That’s how football has always worked.

The margins are incredibly fine at the top, but our track record when compared to Liverpool’s shows that our approach works better than theirs.

Plus - he paid Southampton very handsomely for taking the risk on van Dijk and Mane, he paid Wolves for taking the risk on Jota, he paid Hull for taking the risk on Robertson. You could even argue he paid Roma for Chelsea taking the risk on Salah.

The flip is he took a risk on Keita and on Thiago, and they failed. Arguably this has cost him in the biggest games, as Liverpool’s midfield is the weakest part of their team.

Bro, liverpool's scouts are a different breed. The sign mane with 17M and he is top 5 player in the world. The sign salah with 40M and he's one of the best. Robertson for 7M and he is top 2 left back of the world. They sign jota out of no where and he scores 15+ goals a season. Diaz out of no where and he's also playing good. Their business is just too good I can't but agree. But we can't do the same

He's got a point. You see without VVD, the full list doesn't even touch 100M. But thats not the main thing. If you want to build legacy you need to spend
