The key is them being the free player. We often ended up with Dias and Akanji being the free player at the edge of the box with both lacking in the confidence to shoot.I posted a while back about Cherki and Reijnders and their ability to shoot from further out making a difference this season. I didn't even think about Marmoush in that but add him into the mix as well. If teams want to sit deep this season then there's a plenty of players who can put them in from the edge of the box now

And that Mr Easy will make a big difference with the opposition having second thoughts about having all 11 players crowding the box. If they close down the players outside the box it will leave more room in the box for Haaland and others to exploit. Watching this tournament may show us Peps intentions.

Yes and the better players can strike it well first time that's where tbe goals and deflections come from imo not winding up shifting it to your favourite foot whilst 2 or 3 move in to throw themselves at a block.The key is them being the free player. It was the constant tactic used against us last year. The amount of times we seen players receive it on the edge of the box and make the same sideways passes was infuriating. The variety in play will cause the chaos that will lead to players finding space and hopefully a lot more goals---------------------------------------------------------

He was before last season. I just not building my hopes up that he'll return to that sort of form any time soon. Lets just wait to see how he does but its a new season so lets hopefodens a real threat from range too

With Cherki cheap cheap Reindeers and Marmoushka wanting to get forward and shoot we'll be peppering shots from all angles. I'm so looking forward to next season but for now we'll be in for a treat watching how we do in CWC. Fast exciting direct football replacing tippy tappy possession with little end product of last season, yes please, bring it on!

Think Foden is going to come back better and stronger this season. He did an interview a couple of weeks ago saying he was mentally and physically exhausted last season after playing 73 games in the 23/24 season. He also mentioned that he had personal stuff to deal with but didn't mention what they were.He was before last season. He's had nearly 4 weeks away from football so I think he'll be raring to go and prove a lot of people wrong
There is a mini interview with Cherki in the Times today. Very promising. Pep has told him he will have a free role in possession which Cherki described as “Music to my ears.” Apparently he speaks very good English and is clearly raring to go.
