Algerian.
I'm presuming you mean Faouzi Ghoulam, the Algerian left back who played for Napoli, fine player.
That’s the lad, apologies for getting his nationality incorrect
He was a brilliant player and we were heavily linked until he did his ACL in a very innocuous action away vs City. No other player involved. Never really recovered to the same level iirc

Still playing in Turkey, but you're quite right, his fitness never recovered and nor did his career. The peculiar thing is that we lost Mendy in September to an innocuous challenge and then Napoli lost Ghoulam in November to the same. Two of the best left-backs in Europe went out of the game in the space of 5 weeks. Cruel.

Mendy was bigger and faster but Ghoulam was a much better footballer

Apart from a few posts early on in this thread, there has been 158 pages of absolute tosh!! Has anybody watched this lad? If so can we have actual info please!

Forget YouTube clips. TBF his actual stats are very good, like possibly better than Wirtz good

One of the most naturally gifted footballers around. You'll occasionally get a player like Clichy who can play on the opposite flank to his stronger foot, but it's genuinely rare to find a player who is so adept with both feet and can play anywhere across the final third. His weight of pass, peripheral vision, and sense of space are uncanny.

If we sign him, I predict he'll work very well with Bobb, Marmoush, and Bernardo, but others, especially in attack, are really going to have to sharpen up. He'll be making passes and they'll still be standing wondering who that was meant for. Going to be interesting.
