He is in the top 10 creative players this season in the top five leagues.

Buy as soon as possible

Cause he doesn't defend he's going to not success at City

What a load of crap coming out of his mouth

He seems to be annoyed he isn't going to United imo

And what's not to say that he can be coached to do the other side of that game as well

Let's not forget he has the like of Rodri and hopefully Reijnders to do that work so he may just need to focus on that attacking game

Literally could have pulled that analysis from any thread on Cherki. Standard as fuck review

I don't know anything about him except clips from YouTube but what I do see is a player like Ali B. He'd do for me if he was like that all the time though whether his role would be a bench one I'd just have to guess.

And we had Mahrez who was not the best presser and look how he ended up, quite good if i might say it myself

The team balance between control and action has been off for the last couple of years. 2016-2019 it was arguably slightly too heavy in the "action" direction, with only the Silvas, Gündy, and to an extent Laporte and Delph being more "control" players. Kompany, Walker, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, and the front three all had a massive bias to action. Great football to watch, but meant we were on the wrong side of some basketball games when we couldn't get control of things (Monaco, Liverpool, Spurs in the CL)

Then we moved more into the "control" phase with Rodri phasing out Dinho, Zinchenko featuring more, and Mahrez being more involved (who in fairness could do a bit of both), before our ultimate "control" signing in Grealish. Fielding a team with Bernardo and (the City version of) Grealish on the wings is a million miles away from the 2017-19 Sterling/Sané approach, and gave us the ability to suffocate teams. But we still had enough "action" players in De Bruyne, Foden, Haaland, Mahrez, Álvarez et al to create and take chances and break teams down

From 2023 onwards, our "action" players have been less effective, and as such our control of games often veers into the "sterile domination" of late-period Wenger's Arsenal. Plenty of possession but not enough dynamism or invention to open teams up as often as we need to

Someone like Cherki, in combination with more energetic legs in midfield and at fullback, is exactly what we need to try and rebalance things again

Can’t lie. I understand why he thinks this way. Pep is known to be the most systematic coach. Our system is very rigid and our players rarely take chances unless you’re KDB who actively refused to listen to Pep most times. We’re super slow, cautious and methodical. Cherki is a maverick. Magician that I think thrives with freedom. Who on this team has freedom. Pep isn’t an Achelotti who says “gives the ball to the best players and just let them do what they do best”. People with this mindset will use Grealish as their only example for saying Pep is restrictive.

On the other hand there’s literally a 90 min interview of Pep talking in Spanish about the importance of dribblers and how there’s no football without them. So yes he’s controlling but up to a point. In the final 3rd he’s said it himself that’s it’s up to the players. All he does is try set them up to be in the best positions and they predict what the opposition will do. That’s why Doku and Savio can still beat their man for fun. Sterling Mahrez Sane all thrived under Pep. Where is that argument for them. The best players come from him. So he’s either the best manager to ever walk the planet or he’s not. You have to pick a side. He’s not perfect but saying he limits players is unjustified. We just don’t treat the ball like a bomb. We don’t believe in many turnovers - a basketball match. We believe in rhythm .. extra passes. Our fav way to defend is with the ball. This is a philosophy. Talented players can still be in it. In fact the more talented the better. If you’re not skillfully blessed or have a great footballing IQ you will struggle. Like Phillips. All he cares about is players that are good people inside and hard workers.

At the end of the day. Media is to push agendas and that’s all people do. Same as the people on twitter. I’d take this video with a pinch of salt.

It always seems to me when we are close to signing anyone or anything it gets questioned or dismissed as not good enough. KDB when he first signed comes to mind
