RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

Just a really disjointed performance. Never seen so many passes go astray for a long time. A lot of changes to the team, dead rubber....pick your excuse....etc etc. We can't win them all and I guess at some point we have a drop in our usually excellent level, so it's probably better to do it in this game. Hopefully we see a suitable reaction v Wolves.

Thought Zinchenko was good, always trying to show for the ball and a lovely cross for the goal. Steffen had a great game too, which says a lot about how we played. Walker....looked off colour all night. Someone earlier said it was a soft red....it wasn't. It was a pre-meditated kick as he was frustrated and he fully deserved to go. Stupid and petulant. And overall I thought the ref lost control and was crap. Credit to Leipzig though, they played well and had some good moves. Deserved their win.

In contrast to most on here I understood Pep's lineup as an idea to win a tough CL match away at Leipzig, having a new coach as well. Kids on after 1 hour to rest players not 100% fit. That must have been the match plan.

I think Pep didn't expect his stars being as half arsed, and chasing the game was not the moment to throw the kids under the bus in a weak team. The big boys made their bed, now they had to sleep in it.

There also is the aspect of team hierarchy. Mahrez e.g. shouldn't sit on the bench (after just 15 min at Watford) only to give Palmer a start only to make us happy.

Pep knew Leipzig would be a tough match and it was. They didn't make the clownery in defense like Milan. Now Klopp's B-team looks like unbeatable. Rubbish. Leipzig fully deserved to win.

RB didn't deserve to win, they had a bent ref giving them everything and anything, while allowing them to kick lumps out of our players, a draw would have been fair.

De Bruyne definitely, because apart from the derby victory, he's been poor all season.

Not sure about Grealish, because even at Watford, he was involved in the build-up to all three goals. I think we'll view him more positively once he's scored a few goals, but that needs to come quickly.
I wouldnt say his involvement (Grealish) was key however

I agree with everything here. I'd personally have started one or two of the younger players but I can understand why he didn't this.

And I definitely got the vibe that he was sending a message that if you can't be arsed working hard for the first 45 then you can stay on in the cold German night in the empty stadium until you do show some fight. He's a manager who demands 100% work ethic and commitment and understands respecting the opposition as playing as hard as you can, and expects those qualities every time a player is on the pitch. That's who he is, I have no problem with him not bailing senior players out from a mess of their own making.

My Weetabix has just ended up all over the keyboard. I remember now the main reason I come on here..... to make me laugh and ponder the vagaries of life the Universe and everything...the meaning of life in other words..... the answer 42! :-) :-)

And for those thinking because I am eating my breakfast that I have only just got up no, no, no, I am not allowed to eat until 1 hour after my tablets. Matron won't allow it. :-) ;-)
But what's the question?
Life - don't talk to me about life!

Yep, perhaps understandable that nearly all of the lads who went deep in the Euros for England have had pretty poor starts to the season.
Not just City’s lads but the likes of Slabhead, Shaw, Mings, Pickford, Phillips, Kane etc have been pretty shite so far. Rice and Mount perhaps the exceptions.
I have no idea but I wonder if the majority of the Italy squad have have also suffered a similar fall-off?
Slabhead, Mings and especially Pickford were shite way before the euros and will continue to be so until they retire :-)
