RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

We were also missing Cancelo.
But these guys deserved a rest
Smash Wolves Saturday and every one of us will be singing from the same hymn sheet again, thank god
I couldn’t think of a worse game to play at home than Wolves after a mid week Champs league game..

This is a real banana skin and we need to be on it from the start ala Villa away

We’re Manchester City, the Best Team in the Land, in all the World of course we’ll be on it! Never a doubt in this world.

Sometimes a flat performance or even dare i say a loss, quickly gets us up and at it again.
Wolves won't be adventurous and will look to hit on the break, but we are back at home with Bernie beaming again after a couple of days of luurrrvvvve with his missus.

i believe we will still be top this weekend

I guess Pep is much better positioned to know whether it was reasonable to play Walker or not. He knows how to manage a squad of top, top players, probably better than anyone.
You make a fair comment, Pep knows the squad best, but there is a pattern of ‘debatable’ selections in ECL games. For me Walker and Gundogan should have been nowhere near that game last night, but Pep knows best. But the point at which I was convinced Pep just wasn’t thinking last night was when he brought Ruben on for 5 minutes in a game that meant nothing, when we had other subs. You don’t risk your key defender in those circumstances, period.

I agree with what you say. My point is that we fielded a very good team but many of the players quite understandably lacked that 2% which produces a typical City performance instead of a lacklustre performance in a dead rubber. Leipsic had that extra 2% and took the game very seriously. But then they qualified for the Europa league, which meant something for them (I think they probably suspected this is what they thought was all they could hope for when the draw was made) whereas we couldn't gain anything from a win.

A collective "fuck-it" by City, reminiscent of the wigan cup final. Both games we were second best. Very rare occurrence making it so painful to watch. Cant remember our keeper being our best performer, or Kev's radar so wonky, or a game so meaningless. 2 banks of five, long ball first option, something we've faced many times and been successful, exposed the whole team.
The press was non-existent, the mid-field was a desert, the movement off the ball, or i should say the non-movement, was so untypical that the game was just one long
" W T A F" torment. Who-ever was selected, the outcome would be the same is my guess....
We were out-played, is the epitaph on a night that needs forgetting asap.
Strange because the stats say otherwise. Just an off day, nothing more.

can you get form back from sitting on the bench ?
replying to this now in response to your reply to mine.....

You can regain form from the bench.......maybe that is what is needed....easing back in......lets see if he starts weekend as on form he doesnt deserve to.

If we were playing Liverpool, Chelsea this weekend, would , ont he form he is showing, start the game...for me he wouldnt....
