RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

anyone watch the pre game crap on BT? Mostly about dippers and then the start of the game eulogising about the fucking high press from Leipzig. They’re really on their bastard brainwash rag agenda now.
Mentioned the German messiah a few times too.

I was just thinking how dumb Stones was for picking up a needless yellow and the Kyle decides to one up him.

Doesn’t matter too much in grander scheme of things but that was uncharacteristicly half arsed

the manager set the tone by saying they were off for a big meal, and it ended up with the team losing its rag and Kyle getting banned for the knockouts

if today was getting minutes in legs then don’t approach it in such a half arsed way. If it wasn’t, and was just a game to negotiate, we missed the chance to give some of the younger lads a taste of euro opposition

crap that
I think from the refs perspective, it’s job done.
Kyle gave him a helping hand though.
But we’ve been weakened next round in what was a dead rubber.

Pep can’t claim to be happy with that.

What was the point in that? If you’re gonna treat the game like a training session, then why not give some more senior players a proper rest (Gundogan and Walker being the obvious candidates) and incentivise a couple of youngsters. If I’m McAtee watching that I’m not signing a contract in a hurry.
Other than that, and the dead rubber aspect duly acknowledged, it was a carbon copy of the Palace game. Grealish cutting inside into traffic all night, Mahrez doing the same, Sterling deployed through the middle with no service and all 3 of them continually offside. Ferna and Gunders in lead lined 19th century diver’s boots. Bag of shite
Why do we persist with playing Sterling through the middle.
He's nowhere near the best finisher at the club and if Pep hasn't notice yet hes 5 foot fuckall, so not really going to trouble any defender in the air.
But i totally agree, why take the young uns and not play any of them in a dead rubber

That good?

Klopp seems to have gotten the memo and is playing lots of reserves

KDB has been poor long before he got COVID. He consistently looks a yard of the pace and whilst you can see he has still got the vision, his execution of passes has dropped of a cliff.

Like Laporte, I don’t see either of them regaining their very top form. Whilst that doesn’t mean they are no longer top players, we now have better options than them in the squad and Pep’s selection should reflect that.

What the fuck was that?? I mean seriously, I nearly shit myself into a coma when I saw our line up. Why play such a strong 11, risking injuries & suspensions, in a match that means fuck all? :-|

We brought half the academy & played one of em for 5 minutes in this match? Pep needs to take a long hard look at himself! Now we've needlessly lost Walker for the first knockout round match, over a game where the players could barely be arsed putting the effort in.

With such a busy period ahead of us, tonight should have been a rest day, now all we've achieved is tiring out several of our players, ahead of how many fuckin games, in the space of a month. To be honest, I could barely be arsed watching the match, so annoyed was I that we risked so much, for so little reward.

Someone please tell me Pep gave a sound reason for playing such a strong team? Aké, Zin, KDB, Grealish, Stones, Steffen & Foden I get, but the rest was utterly, totally pointless, as were we at the end of the game. Jeeez! :-(

Just too many players that couldn't be arsed tonight along with the manager also. Obviously no crowd didn't help when there was nothing on the result but would've thought we could put on a better showing than that. Walker's red was just idiotic but Pep also to blame for keeping him on. Should've been subbed at half-time along with Gundogan as you could see their levels had dropped enormously from the norm. No point in taking the kids if you're only going to give 1 of them 5 minutes. Will do wonders for McAtee's decision of whether to sign a new contract or not when he can't get minutes in a dead rubber with so many on the pitch not giving anything.

You’re just upset because you can’t get your 100 likes tonight :-)

We have been getting some results recently despite being short of players at time so a dodgy performance was probably due and best in this game rather than on Saturday. Lets hope that it is out of our system and normal service is resumed against Wolves.

Anybody who gives a tin shit about that result is an idiot.

Disappointing to lose Walker for the last 16. Grealish needs to play his way into some form. Fernandinho is on his last legs. Kev played.

good game time for lads who needed it. That’s it.
Can Kyle miss both games of the last 16?
More pissed off over that than anything. I'd understand if we were on the verge of being eliminated and he lost the head but not what he done tonight it's mind boggling.

With all due respect mate that’s absolute horseshit.
As I replied to your similar statement in the match thread, slack attitudes and complacency of the sort on display tonight can easily bleed into league performances and more important games if not addressed.
We have seen this before. This team are brilliant but they can also be a bit flaky and lazy if they can get away with it.
Gundo and Walker shouldn’t have even been on the plane. One looks to have suddenly hit the red wall of burnout and the other could possibly miss our next three CL games, should we make it that far.
Meanwhile, generational young lads we are trying to convince about a pathway and to sign new contracts can’t even get on the pitch in a dead rubber. Pathetic.
Certainly couldn’t blame James McAtee for at least considering his future when he can’t even get a second of action despite his elders and betters being frankly dogshit.
You’re normally a very decent poster who I have long had a lot of time for but I think you’ve got this one wrong tbh
I don't think Pep rates these kids enough, very very disappointing from him tonight and he'll probably get slated for it
