RB Leipzig (A) - Post-match Thread

Maybe, but that’s a forum: idiocy, splenetic posts, decorum (occasionally) and outright bollocks. I think Pep picked a great team, the right team, but the team played poorly. He’s an absolute winner with no time for romance and I love that; it’s why we’ve hoovered up so many league cups. Pick the kids? Fuck that. Win silverware? Yes please. Winning is a habit. He knows it, the team know it. Let’s leave picking the team to the man that knows.

Must be boring just posting Pep knows best over and over again, almost pointless doing it more than once really.

You must have fingers like Popeyes arms:-)

Just discussing. Sorry you don’t agree with my view. Maybe try another forum?

lots of sense in that but the levels of effort were half arsed so surely he didn’t get the desired effect from the team selection? Bigger picture it’s no biggiebtho
Anyone slagging anyone slagging pep are embarrassing.
in pep we trust but not too sure what he learned or how tonight helped. But in the grand scheme of things it’s nowt so all good

Because he’s a winner. It’s why Aguero played (and scored) at Burton when we were NINE nil up. It’s the reason we’ve won pot after pot after pot. He’s not interested in resting half the squad so some kids get half a game. Go Strong. Play the best players. Leave the kids until they’re ready. Trophies. Wins. Pep. The winning formula.
However, and I make this point with an element of agreement to what you wrote, we weren’t guaranteed anything when he started Kun.... I get the philosophy around winning mentality, it’s our mission statement, however, nothing gained here by promoting that mantra, more missed opportunity to get experience in the legs... horses for courses, anyway!

I’m not sure what happened there!

- Walker and Gundo were the only selections that confused me. Plenty of players needed minutes. Pep is pretty decent at squad management, and has access to fitness data we don't. I trust him and the team for making the selections they do.

- If we were treating it like a training session that is because that is what it was, but I don't know why we ended up getting into little scraps when that's all it was to us. Plenty of leaders on the pitch, so someone just needed to take the edge off it. I suppose a positive reading is that there is a winning spirit there.

- Ultimately, they had something to play for and we didn't and that showed. The empty stadium seemed to throw us as well.

- Walker should have been much, much more disciplined. He's virtually cut all brain farts out his game, so sad to see them creep back in, even as a one off.

- Sterling looked good again. Kev doesn't get into the first 11 on current form. Foden can have the playing himself into form excuse.

- Is Rodri our most important player to how we play (accepting Bernie is best?)?

- I'll have forgotten about it by Saturday. Not too much to learn here.
Sterling had 10 touches in 45 mins. Is that "good"?

Ever thought that Pep has principles among Europe's managers. Leipzig and Bruges were fighting it out for Europa League spot. Nobody can accuse him of playing a weakened team.

There’s some ungrateful posters on here, ffs, head wobble, reality check, Pep and his team (including Khaldoon, Tixi and Sorriano) are the best in the business, never forget that, and when they’ve gone they will be missed big time.

Joke tonight. Why waste the legs of Gundo, Walker (who BTW were awful) and Mahrez and then not give all the possible subs a run when it was totally disjointed from begining til end.
Diabolical refereeing yet again in Europe.
Thank fuck we don’t play in thus shit again for months

I thought he looked our most dangerous player when he came on, but then seemed to be shifted inside while Grealish was put outside and looked less dangerous as a result. I wasn't paying as much attention that I normally do, mind, and I'd prefer to have my covid booster in my eye than re-watch it, so happy enough to be wrong if I've got carried away there.

I moaned after the Chumps final because it mattered. Tonight didn't.
It obviously didn't. The main thing about this game was to avoid injuries, and keep the squad fit. Shame about Walkers red card but all in all no real harm done. Moaners will always moan. I've supported this team far too long to start becoming a nit-picker. Onwards and upwards. Judging by some of the comments you'd think we'd just been dumped out of the CL. The mind boggles???????
