RB Leipzig (A) | Post Match Thread

Reading a scattering of the 102 pages on this thread thinking to myself that a draw against a top European team away was a good result makes me feel that I've been watching another team for 50 plus years .
But on hindsight I realise that a good away performance needs applauding
Well done Pep and the lads and the fans that travelled quite a lot on here need to reign in the negatively and get behind the boys
When do we play this top european team?
It surely wasn't tonight. The team we played tonight are 100/1 shots who have no chance of winning it.

We are not playing our best
We are second in PL
Still in CL
Still in FA cup
I would have dreamt about that years ago
Arsenal and Forest we were starting to look like our old selves and with us not playing at home recently we can't give them an extra boost (which RB Leipzig had the benefit from)

If I can just add my views.... I do kind of agree with the OP and I get where he is coming from, I remember the dark days.

However, because I remember the dark days, I am familiar with the phrase 'typical City' which we saw in evidence vs. R. Madrid last time around.

Also, as I said the other day both the PL and UEFA have it in for us. If they can't get us in the courts (and it is unlikely they will - UEFA couldn't and I doubt the PL will either) so they will try to get us the other way - dodgy refs and dodgy VARs.

To avoid this, 1:1 draws are no good. Some 'weird' decisions in the 2nd leg could soon overturn that. I said after the Forest game, we need to aim to win matches such as that - and tonight - by such a significant margin that they can't 'get to us'. People say - Oh we can't win every match by 5:0 or 6:0, but we should aim to at least, look at the Spaniands last night vs Liverpool. Such speed and such direct activity, not all this side-to-side tippy-tappy stuff.

We should be able to also.

If Haaland isn't working after 60 mins, but Alvarez on.

Tell Grealish to go 110% for 45 mins and at half-time swap him for Foden and tell him he can do likewise for the 2nd 45mins.

Use the wealth we have (on the bench) otherwise if we did or didn't play a bit fast and loose with the FFP rules - what is the point if we don't then apply that 'advantage' in matches, it becomes irrelevant.

Is Pannick going to stand up in court and say "M'lud yes City have two of the best number nines in the world, but because the manager doesn't use one, we are innocent"? I don't think so!
Agree with so much you've said.
Grealish gave up going forward after 60 mins +.
Then the manager should freshen things giving the opposing team something else to think about

Tight games?
We are favourites for this comp, they are/we're 100/1 shots.
Now I know that doesn't mean we deserve to win but we are Champions of England FFS whereas Liepzig will never be champions of Germany
This is a side has beaten Real Madrid in the competition this season. They drew with Bayern. They have beaten us last season.

What a team that's taken Munich to the wire twice in recent years beat Madrid in the group stages this year .
Don't believe bookies odds as there always stacked with the big boys .
These are a top team .
As stated a underestimated good result .

Has anyone read peps post match comments. He has said he doesn’t think we have the pace to play in transition with speed and play forward quickly. He named haaland and walker as the only ones with real pace. Ignore the fact that you may disagree and name foden etc as others. But, he obviously doesn’t feel we can play any way except from this. We obviously need new players this summer to put some life into this team.
Alvarez is rapid AF he just refuses to play him as a winger.
