RB Leipzig (H) - CL | Post-Match Thread

I still can’t believe Marsch managed a team in europe playing against world best coach and team.He is a legend here in chicago. His team had more balls then top 6 pl teams .Credit where it’s due .

What a game but hope we will never see that city’s back four again.

were you there? I was and it was plenty busy. everyone is taking what pep said too literal; i don't think it was a dig at the fans and more of a rallying of the blues to get behind their team in what is going to be a difficult few weeks.
Sadly, not there. My point being if there was good attendance, why would Pep say what he did, or what some are perceiving he did.

atmosphere slighty affected by the fact there was 30 away fans in attendance. they tend to contribute to the noise a hell of a lot. how can you comment on the attendence if you wasn't there? no offence intended of course! i would say there was definitely 45k+ there. a hell of a lot more people than I was expecting.

He is right. We are champions of England and most successful club in the world playing the most attractive football ever seen on this planet and we fans don’t turn up.
He is far from right, his job is to manage the football team and, even though well intentioned,he had no right to have a pop at our support.

Our fans have been amongst the most loyal in the country, many are working class with commitments and priorities away from attending football - he should have praised those that turned up not criticise those that didnt/couldnt.

Totally agree, that a large contingent of away fans ramps up the atmosphere.

In this discussion however, I am not commenting on attendance. I am simply saying either Pep had reason to comment or he didn't and, by going on the way many have had a go at him suggests there was a reason (poor turn out) or his comments have been taken out of context, which I believe they were.

Chicago??? Fuck me, for years I read your username as meaning China Town in Manchester! Haha!

yep definitely think they’ve been taken out of context and blown out of proportion. for me it was just a rallying of support in a tough few weeks. nothing more nothing less.

Any criticism of Ake for last night, in which I actually thought he had his best game for us, pales in to insignificance as his father died during the game.

I guess we know now why he had to leave the Dutch camp early.

incredibly gut wrenching to read his post. can’t imagine how he must have felt being on the pitch and not by his side.

I have just seen his statement I'm amazed he played at all. Poor bloke.

So sad, and just reinforces football isn't the be all and end all. There are much more important things in life.

Just how I saw it. Am entertaining game against a team who had a go. We could have had ten. Some poor defending but that was down to complacency and absentees. The result was never in any doubt whatsoever. Thoroughly enjoyed it and so did my lads.

Give the opponent their due, they kept on coming and never went for damage limitation.

I would expect us to be more focused against a stronger opponent.

Definitely. And with stronger personnel. The three conceded do not worry me one little bit. We dominated and looked like scoring with every attack. And I quite enjoyed how every single time they scored we just got annoyed and went up the other end and scored immediately. I remember a couple of games like that a few years ago. Arsenal and Stoke spring to mind but there might have been others, maybe a CL game. Burrusia Monchengladbach from memory?

Totally agree.
I agree with that comment although I wasn’t there 300 mile round trip and work commitments it looked a decent crowd to me and the vocal support was good. Only problem was listening to Darke with his stuck record on 100m jack. No mention of 97m on lukako or the vast sums spent by the rag losers. I’ll be there Saturday!!
