RB Leipzig (H) | Post Match Thread

Goals change the course of games, and when the first two goals are dubious, it's going to affect how the rest of the match plays out. If Leipzig could've kept a clean sheet until the break and Ederson had been shown the red card, who knows what might have happened.

Let me make this clear: City are a WAY better team. They are going to win this fixture 99 out 100 times, especially at the Etihad. But they shouldn't have received those favors from the referee. Leipzig were denied any real shot at this game because of him.

We saw how Milan and Inter went through by digging in and playing ultra defensively (albeit against worse teams). Had a similar referee been in charge of their games, they wouldn't have had a chance.
Such refereeing performances bring the game into a state of disrepute. I don't think it's in City's best interest to win like this either.

In short: Congrats on your advancement. Massive performance. But I don't want to hear you guys ever complain about refs again.
This guy really went to bed, got up, went to work, sat at his desk, and decided he was going to write a whole essay about another football team who just smashed someone with nothing to do with their own club. One of the saddest things I've ever seen.

Say what will you about Liverpool fans, but at least they kept their fucking own bollocks to their own forums.

The first two goals?
Penalty was really soft but after we got stiffed against Spurs a few years ago when their player handballed it into the net i couldn't give a fuck, swings and roundabouts.
What was up with the second goal? Are you saying it was a coming together like Enketiah and Ederson and the ref gave a pen when it was never a pen in a month of sundays in that game. Haaland didn't even touch him.
If you dried the tears from your eyes you would see Ederson got the slightest touch on the ball and again it's a coming together.

Honestly, your post has fell apart, you entitled fans of these gobshite clubs who used to rule the roost are a bunch of fuckin crybabies.

Good luck on Thursday night mardarse.

I turned to my neighbour at HT and said 'What chance we get another three in the second half'! I really thought we'd run out 3-1 in the end with Leipzig nicking the second half! What do I know? Only been watching for seven decades. Need another seven before i get a handle on what happens in a football match.
That’s the beauty of it, never predictable. Sport eh?

Hey, I live in Blackpool and have work at 7am. Those ten minutes make the difference between 11pm and midnight
I live close to you and don't go to CL games but said to Mrs Moon with 5 mins to go and us coasting I'd probably leave at that stage for the same reason.

To quantify that I'm 59 for another 6 weeks and been going, mostly as a season ticket holder since 70/71 admittedly most of the time from Ashton or Oldham and can still count on one hand when I've not stayed to the final whistle.

It all came together last night. The balance was there, the goals were there, the workrate and determination and desire. Kev was back to his best too. A wonderful win against a very good side, albeit one we'd expect to beat. Whisper it, but it looks like Pep's worked a system out here and it's clicked with the players.

Only negative for me was the KDB booking. He should have had a freekick but at 6-0 up he didn't need to react that way, it's a booking that could be costly so somewhat unnecessary.

But otherwise, an excellent performance and bring on the draw on Friday and Burnley this weekend!

Utter bilge. But if it makes you feel better, I guess...

That’s Tarquins for you.

amazing, outstanding etc. Don't really know what to add to 42 pages of summing up what was obvious!

others: John Stones played really well as inverted RB, filling in behind Rodders and overloading a bit. Lovely to see KdB back in rollocking form like that. Akanji far more settled again, this run of form is suiting him.

I dont think our pen was a pen. Well maybe it was under some specific rules, but if that was against City.....anyway, it was soft as fuck. Also i thought Ederson was lucky to get away with that rash charge.

great evening, any of Inter, Chelsea, Benfica and AC Milan will do, avoid Bayern, Napoli and Madrid/Liverpool for now.
City were denied a more obvious penalty in the last minute of the first leg !!

On Kev, boss hit the nail on the head. If you look back to his bad games, he was trying to play like bernie/Gundo etc and misplacing pass after pass. We need his dynamic drive and his ball delivery. leave the tippy tappy stuff to the rest.

Rebirth of a new team.
As I've been saying since September, something's changed physically with KDB, & you can't hold back the hand of ole Father Time.

Just like Gerrard, Kev's game is built on dynamicism. Take that away & a brilliant World Class player becomes a decent international class player.

Kev was performing last night as he used to do three times a week, but the stark truth is he can't do that any longer. Until Leipsig, he's played 1½ matches in 2-3 weeks.

His body has had time to rest & recover, & this is further evidence that we need him to retire from International football & to manage his game time.

We play enough games per season where he can come on as a sub to keep his match sharpness up, therefore saving him for our crucial high-level matches where we need his dynanicism to make the difference.
